Question 96 ek b18c or a 00 ek Vtir coupe?

Hi everyone, Im new to this forum and this is my first post

I looking to buy a ek civic and i have come across these two cars that im very interested in.
    car #1
96 ek civic gli with a b18c or

    car #2
2000 ek civic vtir coupe (stock standard)

I heard that there could be problems with car #1 because of the engine
conversion. can someone please tell me what these problems could be?
I dont know which one to choose. I like car #1 because of the engine and i
like #2 because i like the coupe shape over the hatch and the b16a is still a very good engine.
im confused i love them both
can someone help me out with my decision please? What would you choose if
you have the same choice and why?

    Thank you in advance people
    Cheers

i almost forgot to mention that #1 is a few grand cheaper

depends the price of car #1. if they are both the same price then go for the ek4 for more reliability. because if you say something is wrong. it could be anything.

#1 u mean the ek has the b18C in it already?

  4. #4
buy the one you wont regret.

eg. if you were driving the hatch with b18c and you saw the coupe next to you, would you look at the coupe and say" oh man i wish i had that car"? if the answer is yes, well get the coupe. if you say" hahah i like my b18c better in this hatch" well obivously get the hatch..

    hope that helps.

they are both great to start wth

do remember to consider the milage travelled, and as som1's mentioned, price is an important factor too. i guess if the b18 was swap properly, it should b quite reliable, however the 96 hatch is almost approaching its 10 yr life, do need to check carefully wth the body and components etc, again, if taken care properly, shouldnt hav too much hassle.

coupe on another hand is newer, engine pretty much stock as u said.. may b a safer (less problem) choice i reckon. b16 isnt bad at all, and the coupe looks good.

    all the best

    it's an EM1.. not EK4

i'd go the EM1, as it is newer and has the b-series from stock..
