Change CVT Belt

Hi all,

Does anyone know when is the scheduled change of CVT belt in the Jazz? I can't seem to find this information in the maintenance book. My previous Civic ES8 is also CVT and it was stated to be changed at 80,000km. Please advise. Cheers.

Pardon my lack of familiarity with CVT, I haven't heard of scheduled CVT belt replacement except CVT oil change.

Do a Google search with 'honda CVT belt replacement' for a good read.

I've heard of scheduled Cam Belt replacement at 100,000km. But the Jazz uses Cam Chain and should last 400-500K under normal usage with regular oil changes.

My friends Jazz just done his 100,000km service
didn't need to change anything but the spark plugs.
I was amaze that the Jazz CVT is not belt driven.

Its not surprising from the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer to know a bit about chains and their advantages over belt or in the case of bikes, shaft drives. Not that they don't make shafties just that they don't appear on anything but cruisers and touring bikes. Can't win the Suzuki 8HR with a belt.

One of the selling points of the Jazz in countries like Thailand is low maintenance costs. Not viewed by Honda marketing as such a strong selling point here. I now spend approx $480- a year on servicing instead of over a $1,000- with a Falcon and I get the Honda serviced 3 to 4 times a year as opposed to once. The Honda parts are significantly more expensive but you don't need a bucket load of parts every 20,000km.

If you want high maintenance get married.

Hi civiceg9,

With most Honda car engines, it uses a belt to drive the camshaft/s, thus cambelt. With the Jazz/Fit engine, this cambelt has been replaced by a chain - thus camchain.

The Jazz CVT is belt driven - steel belt.

Please help yourself to a good read by doing a search on this forum for 'CVT' topics or a google search for 'CVT Technical'.

Yeah I know most older generation Hondas are rubber belt driven. I do my timing belt change.

what I mean belt as in the rubber belts not metalic belt or chain.
Some small car CVT uses a rubber belt.
I got a Jazz too and the mechanic manual to take the car apart.
