Acura Integra Lower Gauge install DIY

Well this is a install I saw on someone else’s Integra and fell in love with it. It keeps you from having to use a pillar pod if you want to add 1-2 gauges. This is a DIY and is not intended for just anyone. If you have no experience with a Dremel tool and taking it slow you will mess up your dash. I am not responsible for your mistakes! You will not be able to put the switch back in their original spots with out a new dash or some custom work.

The tools you will need:
Flat head screwdrivers
Dremel rotary tool

Here you can see the dimmer switch. This is the same if you are going to take out the Cruise Control as well. They don’t pop out easy. The dimmer has a few pins that hold it in. You have to be careful popping it out. Towards the bottom of the dimmer “shove” your flat tip screwdriver in, you will want to find the lower pin holding it in. You can also crawl under the dash and find it and just use you finger and have a friend help pull it out. That is how I would do it.

Here the switch is out.

Make sure all wires are out of the way before you do anything else.

Now you can start sanding. Start from the back and work your way forward going around at the same time. You will want to take this very slow. Make the hole bigger slowly. And check the fit every once in a while. As you come forward you will start to take out some of the vinyl, don’t take the whole diameter as the plastic, this vinyl help hold it in. You mess this up there’s no going back. You will not be able to put the switch back in their original spots with out a new dash or some custom work. (NOTE I know the sanding drum isn’t on, I used them all on another project. I also didn’t put a gauge in the dimmer position.)

Not that the gauge fits snugly you can put it in. I marked the front edge with a black permanat marker so if it starts to come out you won’t see the white part right away. Also you may still see some when it is in. Just a beauty fix!

More to come. What else do you guys want? I can do a fiber glass box build, custom kicks, Change wheel studs, upgrade the brake system, etc. I have a shop so I can do this all day, just let me know!
