Prelude temp

Hi all,
I wonder if someone with a 3rd gen BA4 Prelude would do me a favor.
I'm having trouble getting the temp gauge to work properly in my '88 BA4 Prelude.
Just need someone to give me a voltage reading from the sender wire. I'm getting 10.5 volts and I'd like to know what it should be.

If you will, just turn on the ignition (don't start the engine), pull the single red wire off the sender (located at the thermostat housing) and measure from the red wire to the battery negative post.

I think its the resistance values not voltage that matters

Thanks for that, but no, it's the voltage I need to check.
The voltage on the red wire comes from some internal source inside the gauge.

I have the manual for my model which is similar to what you have posted and have done that test. My original sender resistances measures way outside the spec in the manual (as you have posted). So I bought a new one from Tridon which didn't change the gauge problem. I found the Tridon sensor to have similar resistances as my old sensor. (Both sensors were tested out of the car and in laboratory conditions.) That means either both the old and new sensors are bad or the manual is wrong.

So now I'm on my own with it and that's why I need a comparison voltage from a proper working gauge.
