    should I do a swap?

    hey guys,
I've been reading lots of threads, but still wondering about this.

I got a non vtec engine, and thinking to swap to b16a or b16b. but someone told me don't do that cos there is always problems after the swap.
or should I do a mini-me swap into sohc vtec instead?
since I saw a couple good 1/4 mile times.

    what d'you guys say?

    cheers

Problems after a swap..... Depends who does it for you. My swap had very small problems, i mean small, but in the end was worth it. Go with your heart, but just get sombody reputable to do the swap.

Many people will agree i imagine

it just depends who u get it doen by. minor problems just include breaking something during the process, not connecting somehting right etc. just minor problems that could cause a few problems. If you get some one whose done it b4, then you should be good.
I'd recommend the swap, because ur sohc vtec engines gonna cost just abit more then ur labour costs. so why not go the dohc.
im planning to do a b16 or b18 swap into my car soon, depending whats the cheapest engine available in about a month.

edit: turbo wont halfen ur engines age, ppl say there engines blow etc but the most important factor abt turboing a car is tuning it right. also no cheap aftermarket turbo etc.

man, u sound like u need a swap. turbo's can be hassels if not done right. swaps have been done a million times and will give u a reliable increase in performance.. just dont expect tooo much because u will be disapointed, esp with a b16

Things like a front gearbox mount not matching up, so i have to get one still.
and just lil things like my coil shitting itself. Also I was missing the map sensor, si it was on my TB on the d16 and on the b16 it was firewall mounted.

Get a halfcut, unlike me, where i had a stripped out halfcut a mate had at his place. Then atleast you will have all the bits you need.

these are minor problems as i described, as they are usually easy to get.

Its never as easy as just throwing her in, theres always gonna be something that goes wrong.

As for performance, i noticed heaps, cos my D16A8 was on her last legs at 200,000 Km's

    Ditto!
anything not done right will result in problems, both NA and FI.
if you're scared about something going wrong, simply dont mod your car!!
what car do you have btw?
