Sorry to bump an old thread but i've done this recently on my b18c7 with oil cooler & relocation kit. The spring initially either had no washers (or I lost the washer when the spring came out). I added 3 washers and checked my oil is topped up correctly. My vtec still cuts out between 7-max rpm. Should I add an extra washer? I can also shorten the lines by maybe 50mm maximum if that would help.

Contemplating getting an oil pressure gauge to check first because taking the sump off is harder than I thought it would be

It does not have any washers initially. You might have another problem. 3 washers are plenty.

Hmmm. Sorry to get off topic now but any idea what could cause those vtec symptoms?

Actually I do. But it has always been there and vtec was always fine. Could the oil pressure change+dint cause problems?

Is your solenoid alright, no leaking or blown gaskets? They can go 'pop' in an instant.

My oil cooler line blew the other day, caused near instant/sudden oil pressure drop. Could that cause the solenoid to pop? Is there any way to test it?
