    Signs of a dying clutch?

How can you tell when a clutch is dying?

I only recently starting driving manual so not too sure how to tell but I did notice a difference from driving a new car, with its clutch being 'touchy', to my car's clutch not having to push on the pedal as deep...

Also I notice that when I shift from 1st to 2nd in my car the shifting is a bit jerky - is that also a sign of a dying clutch?

ok a few signs are heavier pedal, friction point higher, slippin wen drivin hard, also on take off if the car seems to vibrate means they is hotspots

jerky means its grabbyin a worn clutch will be alot smoother cause its havin trouble engaging

^^ some of the points you mentioned also applys to new clutch and flywheel being put in though.

if you want to test your car has a dying clutch. take it to a open space or a ramp entering the freeway. chuck it to 3rd and floor it.

if your rev shoots up but your car doesn't feel like its moving, then your clutch is slipping. you rev will drop back down again once it grabs onto your clutch

Ash. dont think thats your clutch problem , more to do with the bearings

and sometimes jerky could just be you dont give it enough Gas

might just mean you need more pratice at driving.
Get someone who is profficent to have a go and they would likely know.

Generally drop into 5th and let the clutch go completely. If it stalls straight away its fine. If it doesn't stall straight away it prob is worn. Take it to a workshop and they will be able to test it again for you

clear sign of a dying clutch is when its slipping.

meaning, when u put your foot on the accelerator and push it as hard as u can, the car is heaving problems accelerating

worse case scenario of slipping is u are able to completely release the clutch and the engine is still running (not stalling).

its depends where the noise is coming from, it mite mean u need to oil ur pedals if coming from the inside and from out side pretty sure it mean ur clutch is starting to go or is already gone.

if you're concerned about it then trust your instincts and get it checked by a mechanic. that's d best way to find out. and if u dont have a regular mechanic u go to, get at least 3 opinions from 3 different mechanics.
