Thread: 2 Type-R

  1. #1
i heard civics pull 11-13s with these motors, wat those type-r motors pump out? because i know turbos are no good unless you want to spend big. no matter wat ive done from air filters - cams, same shit, different sound... were they 1.8 160kw or 2.0 180kw?
where do i go, where they wont rip me off lol
    any thoughts?

    hey mate...

B18C5&7 (which i think you are reffering to) produce 141kw at the flywheel straight out of the honda factory..

this can be coaxed to aroung 170kw without internal mods..

13's are attailable with a stripped civic and a type R motor and gearbox..

you will need a lot more power, suspension and chassis work to dip into the 12's..thats with a damn good driver too

11's will require an all out drag car...with massive power, weight loss and chassis/suspension work...

Good Performance and Hanny's performance can steer you in the right direction if you are intersted..

i was quoted 10k for a drive in - drive out Type R conversion..

    hope that helps!

    $10,000 thanks bro

wat if i lose some weight

power to weight is everything mate!

ALLMTR civic has run a 12.8 @ 107mph...which is damn quick considering that it has a n/a B20Vtec...and uses street slicks..

all of his windows are replaced with lexan (plastic), the only thing in the cabin is a single seat, even the dash is gone all but for a tacho and fuel gauge.

weight is the key my friend

yeh man, gettin a street/daily driver civic/crx to do 11s, is gonna be pretty hard. not impossible, but i think impracticle, unless its like a drag car or a spare project car.
damn, steerin would be whack for daily drivin for a fwd car like that.

    i'm just curious...

has anyone ever been in or driven an 11 second car..they are really really really quick...quicker than you'd expect.

turbo examples are almost death on the road!..i'd think an n/a example would be an absolute pig!

(and if anyone doubts me my brother owns a pac performance RX3)

its difficult to steer when your steering wheels are spinning..

also...the car has a habit of switching lanes by itself..

Not sure about the 2000 model, but you can drop a DC2 type R into a EG civic no problem.

In fact it is one of the best swaps out there for both track and drag.

If you want just a quick drag car, then go the H22 swap into the civic. it won't be a track car, but it will pull good 1/4s.

You'll need the box to go with a DC2R engine, as it's suited very well to that particular engine.
