I did this paperclip trick, and I got no flashes, which I figured was a good thing. I then unplugged my O2 sensor to make sure I was doing it right.

With the O2 sensor unpluggedm I still didn't get it to throw any error codes??? Shouldn't it throw an error code?

depends, if your got a one wire O2 sensor you will need to drive your car for a while for it to come on, if you have a 4 wire o2 sensor you should get a code straight away, code 41, o2 heater.

if you had no codes, its alll good, as long as the light stayed on.

Its a single wire O2 sensor. Nah the light didn't even come on. It comes on when I start the car, but that's it! Hmmmmm, is my car working as it should be.

Did the test this morning. Got warning code 15 - "Ignition output signal".

Not sure what this means and whether or not it's something I should be worried about.

I've found the troubleshooting procedure in the workshop manual, but it doesn't really explain what the error reported means.

EDIT: Well, I reset the ECU and it seems to have disappeared. So that's good.... I think.

is this true?.. my engine light has been coming on at random times
when i turn car off the light just goes away

do i need to wait for the light to come on? or turn the car off and test the paper clip?
