NSW: RTA FINES and DEFECTS. DEMERITS INCL. for modifications

move this thread if necessary. didnt know where to post..

after having a quick read of this http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/in...bmitButton.y=4

i thought it'd be useful to point out to any body in NSW that is thinking about modyfying your car and pretty much weigh out the benefits of modding.. (i know after i have enough points on my license, i'd be reinstalling some of my mods LOL)

for those that currently have less than 3pts, you might want to fix your car up or else risk loosing your license if getting pulled over according to these rules below..

i found alot of these very surprising and didnt know that demerit pts were involved ! learnt something new and hope this will save some of you guys if you happen to get an asshole of a cop

*got bride or recaro seats ?
USE VEHICLE NOT COMPLY WITH STANDARD
    Defective seating $243 3pts

*nardi , momo , sparco steering wheel ?
USE VEHICLE NOT COMPLY WITH STANDARD
    Defective steering $243 3pts

*got a seatbelt thats slightly torn or damaged ?
USE VEHICLE NOT COMPLY WITH STANDARD
    Seatbelt missing/defective $243 3pts

    NUMBER PLATES
Use vehicle with obscured/defaced/illegible number plate
    CLASS A MOTOR VEHICLE$324 3pts

*having a smoke ? or just relaxing your hand outside the window ?
    SAFETY OF DRIVER/PASSENGERS
Part of body outside vehicle window/door (driver/passenger)$243 3pts

theres a few more weird ones.. but you guys can have a read for yourself..

    wow.

some of these rules are gay.

but i think that anything like defective seating, or defective steering more refers to if you replace your seat with a non adr approved seat, and dont get it engineered, or replace your steering wheel with one below 350mm, or if you put a non airbag wheel on your airbag car

and the number plate one doesnt say moved from oem position, it says Use vehicle with obscured/defaced/illegible number plate, so as long as you can see it.

but good post none the less

Hence the reason my whole car and all my mods have been engineered..

Some of those rules are gay but there rules none the less!

    they are maximum penalties.

thats like the maximum penalty for being too low is probably demerit points, but i've never heard of a first offender being done for points unless the thing is scraping on flat ground.
Gas up the Vtec for you tonight and baby you can go wherever you like.....

having any mods to your car legally engineered does not prevent your car getting pulled over or harassed

seat belt thing i understand.. ripped or frayed its like a shirt really once its been ripped say if they got into an accident it would rip straight through that.. but sticking out your hand and having a smoke? jesus christ we cant smoke anywhere anymore.. and if it was a hazard sticking out our hand we wouldnt have any god dam side mirrors.. honestly does your arm stick out further then your side mirror? ridiculous..

What if the car comes standard with those items, such as the DC5R. Recaros and momo wheel. Will that get defected too?
