Full Honda Accord & Euro Australian sales figures / graph from 1990 to present

Thought this might be of interest. I've created a list and graph of Australian sales figures for the Honda Accord and Euro, from 1990 up until the present.

    Accord:

    Euro:

The Accord was never a big seller in Australia until the 90s - 1994 to be exact. As you can see from the graph, sales nearly doubled in 1994 over the previous year, and set an all-time record. We see another sales spike in 1998, with the release of the new 6th gen. Accord. However, it never matched the success of the previous generation model. This is evident when you look at the period of 2001-2003, the darkest days for the Accord in Australia, with the 3 lowest sales years in recent history. The 7th gen. model got off to a very slow start in 2003, not reaching it's full potential until 2005, thanks to a massive price cut due to the FTA with Thailand. 2005 set a new Accord sales record, finally beating the 1994 figure from 11 years earlier. 2007 was another record year, breaking through the 600/month barrier for the first time. The 8th gen. Accord in 2008 achieved the highest sales figure to date. Since then, we've seen a very sharp drop in sales, with an awful 2011 figure due to the Thailand floods.

Looking at Euro sales, we see only a partial year for 2003 (and as such, it is not graphed), as the model was only introduced in the second half of that year. Sales peaked in 2005 (also a record year for the Accord), but have gradually decreased since then. A point of interest is that 2008 is the only year that Accord outsold Euro.

I thought Honda's nowadays were made in Japan
Im guessing the quality has gone down hill
    IMHO cd5 + cb7 (build quality) > later accords

    Wrong.
I would honestly blame this on the economy, not Honda.

    Don't be a slacker, post them yourself. I'm not going to waste my time trying to find market share and sales records from VW and Mazda. O.o;;
Honda hasn't gone to shit. The Accord's are slowly moving up to the luxury section of cars. Not to mention Honda split the Accords up into two groups, your normal Accord and the Euro. Combine the figures and I'm sure it would triumph.

Are you shitting me? you sounded like Honda management just then.

Read the analyst report from Deloitte (one of the "big 5" accounting firms):
    http://www.deloitte.com/assets/Dcom-...iew%202012.pdf

Page 12, Honda's market share peaked in 2007, just under 6%,it's now at 2.5%
Page 13, VW's market share is currently at 4.5%, 2% higher than Honda.

Subaru now has a bigger market share, and look at Hyundai!

Page 14, sales volume % changes, Lets give Honda the benefit and take out 2011 (due to floods). for 2010 figure, HONDA -2.6%, VW +26.4%

I have chosen to not read the above and gather you're becoming quite agitated with this situation. :/

Again, you're not taking into consideration who you're putting Honda up against. And even then you're putting Honda as a whole up against other manufacturers as a whole. It's like saying "I'm gonna put the new 2013 model NSX up against a 2013 model Mazda CX9". You can obviously see differences, large differences especially due to the cars having a MAJOR difference in class. We were talking about the Honda ACCORD. If you're going to put the ACCORD up against something, you need to put it up against another family sizes vehicle from Mazda or VW, not the entire manufacturer.

Yes, Honda is slowly ****ing themselves up. They got rid of the last of the type-r models recently, the Civic. Why? God knows, but a lot of us have been sorely disappointed in them and it will definitely ruin sales figures in the coming years.

Back to our discussion about Accord sales figures vs something from Mazda or VW, you can't even put it up against something from Mazda as they only vehicle they have remotely close to a family car would be the 6. The VW? You gonna put Accord sales figures up against a Passat or a Jetta? Find me these figures for proof.

Edit: more to this you can't compare sales figures from back then to now as it's not ONLY the economy, but it's all these other different cars on the market now. More and more cars are getting imported and sold over here (be it new or second hand). Like yesterday, I happened to see Opel is now opening a dealership over here with more than just their Astra model. They're coming over with a whole bunch of other German cars they've made. This itself will put everyone's "share on the market" down and obviously people will buy them and want to try them. Who knows... someone who was about to buy an Accord might just go buy one of those because it appeals to them more (be it the price of design).

And it's not only more manufacturers coming to Aus, it's new models to the car market. For example the Honda City, the Holden Spark, etc etc. These may turn off people from getting a family car and to go with one of these cars.

You clearly haven't taken in all of the factors involved in today's car market.

its in the same report dividing sales by class.

Also I never mentioned Accord in particular, I was stating the trend is reflection of the direction of the brand as a whole.

And that is exactly my point. Honda product line up has serious issues gin the competition.

On of the guys here regularly post VFact sales figures on Hondas, pretty grim.
