My speedo has conked out, the needle doesnt move and the odometer has stopped completely. Im alomst 100% sure it has something to do with the electrics behind the dash.
I put new dials in a long time ago and got into the back of the dash, i dont think i stuffed anything up because it was fine up until a couple months ago, although something could have come loose but i dont know what to look for.
Any ideas?????
I need to get it going because its making my engine light come on and its restricting my go go power after about 5000rpm lol

If you're getting a check light, sounds like your VSS is playing up. Jump for codes to check for sure.

I was hoping there would be something that i can check my self tonight........
I can take it back into the tuners and they can find out straight away on their computer but i would rather try and fix it myself if its possible..........

I got a hondata S100.......
Mine apparantly doent have a cable running into the gearbox for the speedo, is it possible that i have no VSS or is it just in another place?
speedo sensor try borrow another one and unplug the plug from your gearbox and plug it to another one and just spin the rod.. get someone to sit inside too see if your speedo goes up

if you dont have a cable going to your cluster then you have a VSS on the gearbox

Yeah if after a few minutes of driving at "0 kmh" and an amber check light comes up on the dash. High possibility it is the speed sensor connected onto the gearbox. Mine had this issue and I went through the guide that ECU-MAN has posted above. All the voltages were fine. Went to local honda wreckers (HONBITS, WA). Bought replacement used one for $150. Changed it on the spot and worked a treat. I don't want to know how much Honda would of charged for a new one..
good luck!

when you changed ur dials, did u DIY? if u did, when u changed the dial, did u take out the old dials using a magnetic screw driver? Or did u use force when taking out the needle?
lol im just wondering, coz this happend to my EG when i tried to change it to a white EG6 dials, but too bad it didnt work.
the results were, white dials, looked good. But, the tachos wudnt work, speedo, fuel gauge and temp gauge didnt work, the RPM worked, went up by 4mm then stayed there. LOL
until i got my self a new cluster.
You should try go to an electrician for cars. If not, go ebay and search up the cluster for ur car. Should cost you roughtly $50-$200 depending how rare it is to find

I found the VSS on the front of the gearbox and tested it, seems to be fine so i think it has something to do with either the ECU or the dial its self.
Every other dial works and it was working for a while after i changed it to white dials, it was soon after the hondata got installed that it happened.
Also found out though that its not the ECU thats holding back the power, its something mechanical......... Have no idea what it could be though and its really annoying.......

is the speedo sensor thats plugged into the gearbox located in the engine bay behind the throttle body? cos i had my mechanic install my clutch and flywheel a while ago and the speedo wasnt working when i drov off. he said he forgot to plug the cable in and it was located around there just behind the intake.
