Hey Guys...
Not sure if this is the rite place for thread...
** btw this could be a gud info for everybody to share**
Just wondering which is the best full comprehensive insurance for mid/heavy mods ek4.
such as mods engine, chasis, coils, full exhaust wif headers, sound sys, etc.. and other jdm blings...
Im talking about:
1. Price
2. Features/covers of the insurance:
ie. hail storms, stolen, natural disaster, etc
3. Insured for: market price or agreed price
4. Terms & Conditions? Excess fee ?
5. choice for repairers option, etc
6. other stuff??

Id say aami does pretty cheap prices but it depends on your age really. Also if its modded probaly better going with a agreed price rather then market value

not Aami itself, but justcar will insure you.
Aami won't ever insure modified cars, and will ask you to ring straight to Justcar.
you can try Shannons too btw

You can try Just Car as well. Apparently, it's supported by AAMI.

When i was with aami i had rims on my car and they didnt care unless your talking about engine mods.
thx for the reply...
the mods will be engine, coils, exhaust sys, chassis, brakes, pretty much the whole thing i guess.. and i like to insure all of it if i could...
I heard that shannons only insures you - if you have a garage or lock up garage??
how is just car.. are they good on compensation? ie. if ur car got stolen,smashed/repairs, cover for hail storms, etc.. do they cover these things and
i guess the questions is ... would it be easy to make claims or a b**ch??
btw is there any other insurances?

I'm with GIO, mainly because my rents are with them and I get a discount off my comprehensive insurance.
They seem pretty good any decent price too.
Someone recently ran into the rear of my civic and it got classed as a write off and i made the claim the same day, all it took was a 30 min phone call and it was done.
Got the agreed value of the car which was $4300 in the mail as a cheque 7 working days later.
So all in all, i do recommend GIO as they do support modifications to your car but seeing the mods you are doing to your car, would maybe go with JustCar but just call up GIO and get a quote, no harm done.
try go with CBA car insurance, they are pretty good and ill recommend it to everyone.

thx heaps bro!! :D
btw are you insuring ur ep3 civic??
cheers

AAMI will insure cars with only 1 or 2 mods, if more than they'll transfer you to JustCars, which is AAMI owned.

Like above, AAMI will only allow you to have 1 major mod for your car if under 25. Over 25 can have as much as you want, but in that case best to go JustCars since they're technically just a branch off AAMI.

Unfortunately there is no "Best" insurance company for modded cars. Meaning every company will have different prices dependant on age, car and locality.
My mate and I had same car with similar mods. We're pretty much same age, record etc....But there was $1k difference in insurance between us, go figure.
My advice is to shop around. There are lots of insurers around. Next time you're in a newsagent, look into unique cars, just cars etc and get phone numbers.....or check on the net.
Good luck!

if you had tinted taillights like in ur DP, youre very lucky to have been given a payout.

To be honest, everything is roughly the same price. ALTHOUGH, you can bargain them down HEAPS!
My friend got his 05 Rolla fully covered for about 3k, knocked down from 4.5k.
JustCar is the cheapest outright, BUT their excess is heaps.
For my ED I paid $820 (TPP - third party property) and my excess is $500.
At JustCar it would be $640 (approximate) and my excess will be $700, PLUS being under 21 Male, its $1200 on top, where as, with my coverage that I paid for, is $500 excess PLUS $700 on top (because of my age and little driving experience).
Your PREMIUM can be decreased if you choose a HIGHER excess, OR just do pay by the month. I recommend paying by the month because it doesn't take out that HUGE chunk of $3000 from your wallet in 1 day!
I'd recommend going with a more known insurer as they do have better prices, they will allow you to bargain and their excess is lower. BUT!!! BUT BUT BUT! As for modifications, JustCar has a better coverage (I believe)
Hope this helps :)

How old are you?
I'm with Lumley (similar to Shannons) and have a modified JDM B16A in an EG.
$900 a year.
$400 excess.
Agree'd value.
Unlimited mods.
Full comp.
Daily driver.
Catch is you have to be over 25 and car needs to be parked off the street at night. They're a very good company with the same, we love car enthusiasts, attitude that Shannons have.
I did a lot of research when I was looking for an insurer and these guys were the best that I could find.

cheers for that!

R u For real?? thats cheap ass
:D - yeah im ova 25
do they ask you with certification/engineered??
i filled out Just car and they replied me if the car has certification or
engineered..
I thought that it would be ok if you have the (for the engine) audm b16 wif aftermarkets cams gear, itr cam shaft, retainers, valve springs...
itr throttle body wif after market intake manifold...
* will this effect the insurance price? if not engineered or certified?

Mods have to be legal and mod plated where necessary to be covered.
i.e. I've got my engine conversion, brakes and seats all on the same plate.
Internal mods are fine. Call them up and just tell them about your car, the work you've put into it and the good things you've heard about them. The more of an enthusiast u seem to be the more likely you'll get good cover.
