vtec problem

hey guys ive got a problem with my car, when i hit vtec on my car and hold vtec for more than say 5 seconds my engine light comes on. when you try to push it with the engine light it cuts off at about 6-7 rpm so it would rev to 6-7 then cut off. wondering if anyone could help thanks guys . ive got a integra b18c2 vitir any help is good thanks.

obvious i know, but have you checked your oil level and oil pressure? might be an issue with your oil pump?

Had a similar issue with the same car which turned out to be a leak around the VTEC solenoid. Fairly cheap fix and havn't had it happen since

Yeah I've got a leak around the vtec solenoid maybe that's the problem. I'll give it a go thanks dude.

My oil is fine so yeah could be the leak I hope =]
