I'm looking into buying a FN2-R. But before i commit myself into it, i'd like to hear from those who knows best (preferably current or ex owners). Whether i should follow through with it or if i should stay away.

Preferences:
- I'm not getting a t/c car
- I'm looking for good reliability and maintenance
- Good fuel economy
- Want a good balance of looks and power (power not so much an issue)

Tell me if i'm making the right choice and if i should look into other alternatives.

Hey dude,

ive had my ctr for just under 2 years now, and i still love it!!! handling wise its awesome gets in and out around cars on the freeways like a dream, heaps of space up front and for passengers in the back... it turns heads all the time :D, my mates always fight over whos sitting in the front passenger seat LOL

it hasn't missed a beat since i bought it brand new, i drive it pretty hard hehe ... petrol wise i think its how u drive it really.... i fill up with BP ultimate put $50 in and it lasts me the whole week, sometimes a week and a half...

Either way its a great little machine, sounds mean, looks mean, goes mean! + its a honda so its reliable

Good luck on ur quest for a car

good car before u move onto the dark side(turbo).......kinda luxury inside, yet handles like a sports car...... u'll be happy with it.....HONDA = RELIABLE

Hi

I've had mine for 2 years and 4 months. The car has been totally reliable however no matter the make of car you might encounter problems. Some problems may be niggles that can be easily fixed, others may be unfortunately, more serious in nature.
The engine and gearbox are very good indeed. The grip and handling are also very good ,however a lsd equipped CTR would be a notch (or two) up in the handling department. The steering feel is very good, especially the turn in at corners and curves.
I found the throttle reponse ok,but I have had a Hondata mild re-flash which has further improved the reponse, power and torque levels of the engine.
Fuel economy in city driving can be as high as 11L/100klms but I do tend to drive a little aggressively.I've lately been on coastal roads giving it a "hiding"and it has returned a 8.0L/100klms:confused:It's amazing how all these Commodore(mostly) want to have go at me at the lights and yet on a long and winding roads, they lose their bravado;)
Now I come to the suspension.I mentioned before that I've had the car for over two years and I must admit, the suspension travel on the car seems to be getting the best of me.I try and avoid very bumpy and pot hole ridden roads but sometimes you just can't.I had quite a few moments where I have cringed after I have travelled over a pot hole or undulation in the road saying to myself "#@$$!@ hell that was loud ..I wonder if I broke something in the suspension ?".You do feel a significant amount of suspension noise when going over rough surfaces in the cabin.
Overall the CTR has a unique style and it's a car that you don't often see on the road.In other words it's not like a Corolla that you see EVERY day.
No car is perfect but at the end of the day, when you're opening up the throttle, hearing the wonderful engine note as you're changing gears on a long and winding road,it just feels great:)

If you are strictly looking for a NA car, probably a used S2000 or Integra. The Clio RS would also be an alternative.
