Gear box gone in my li 89l crx advise required please!!!!

my 89 crx gearbox is basicly had it... is it worth rebuilding?? or do i take the risk and buy another second hand one for $550 with "apparently" 170000ks on it????

What's wrong with your GBox?


$550 is a disgracefully high price. An entire D16A8 full engine with GBox only costs $200-500.
I actually have a D16A8 in my backyard with a solid GBox, no crunches, and Exedy HD clutch - I got the whole engine conversion for free, NGK spark leads too.

Don't pay more than $200 for a D16 GBox, but you can surely get it for $100-200.

wow yeah thought so but i didnt know if all parts were available if i was to rebuild it.... its got to the stage where its whuring is soo bad im surprised it hasent seized started small but is echoin right through rack and everything... its not cv joints cause i have spent the last 8 months of owning her replacing all that stuff... havent lost any gears...
that price i got was off a joint in melb... im from central vic so NO one has stuff like that here. hahaha do u know if i can find all new required parts for a rebuild or where else i coulsd try in melb for a box that cheap?

I would just replace the gear box with one that you know its history (from another member) not so much of a gamble.
