No thats a wesfil air filter (i work at autobarn)...but i could still be wrong as ryco do have some red filters, does it look like a cotton type of meterial or more like a mesh?

diffrent car but i run my EG4 without the resonators and gets the cold air via a bendy pipe running to the driver side grill > to the air box (with K&N panel filter) > to the throttle body...all up there is only about 2 bends in the whole thing. which is really what you want, Lease amount of bends and good air flow. The filter "POD" or "Panel" depends on your set up but both will do the same thing you just need that fast air flow.

If im wrong someone please correct me.

i would put the pod filter into the stock air box (make like a diy mugen setup), as it would not take in at much heat from the engine bay as much, if it was fully expossed like a SRI setup. i would also take out the resonator as it restrictes the amount of cold air travelling to the filter.
thats just what i would do

dont buy k&n from autobarn or so, just ebay, they rip u off so much, theres a few threads already on pod, sri vs panel, just do a quick search :)
K&n filters have markings to distinguish from other red filters
but to summarize, air box with quality panel filtre with a cai feed is the only way, Or u can go a proper Cai system, like injen, where the pod sits in the front bumper, where only cool air hits it.....

as long as the pod is getting cold air, than its good lol, same with stock air box, though with air box u will find u have better torque down low, an cai with pod better top end power

dont worry about the pod in air box, its not designed for pod aniways, just stick to panel filter, if ur wanting a pod, go the cai route, with the pod in the bumper.... but honestly, its not a race car, so pod is merely more so for sound over performance on a street car

id say if ur already running the panel filter, dont worry about the pod at the end, an just run a cai pipe, as the panel filter is already doin its job in filtering..... Pod is all well an good, but remember the more volume of air goin into ur engine, will alter the cars engine management, making it run slighty richer, more petrol used, so just be aware of this to :)

It looks more like a cotton type material I think? That are like in pleats?
Yeah I think its about getting the least amount of obstructions between the filter and the throttle body to allow he car to get air more efficiently.
How much did your K&N cost?

mine was about $60 (staff discount) :)
