Hey Guys,

I've been looking around lately and the VTI models are going for around 10 - 12k. The Si however has pretty much same everything but they go for around 6-8k.

So i'd like your opionions whether it's worth spending extra 4-5k for a VTI model??

The VTI usually have lower KMs if that matters.

What would the majority of you guys pick?

Si is 92-93 only.. was replaced byt the VTi in 93-95.. so any Si you see is older thus more KM's.

Both the same in terms of features, except VTi has sunroof.

Find an SI for 6-8 thousand, spend the rest + a 'little' bit more and boost it :)

i managed to pick up my Vti for between 6-8 - very lucky...

and i see no issue boosting the d16y either... both engines good for boost ;)

I am another Si owner - to be honest , i love my lil car :) very nice , strong little revvy engine. In terms of performance - the Si is a deal better than the vti - but the vti is atleast 1-3 years newer than the Si too lol so will have less k's and probably better condition.

IF you can find a decent Si - grab it for a good , cheap , reliable and fun lil car. IF you perhaps would like a sunroof - or might be lookign at a future engine conversion maybe best to grab a cheaper vti.

Best of luck mate

Sorry guys but i was under the impression that the si didnt have disc brakes at the rear? That was one of the reasons y i picked up a vti....And i also thought that si and vti made same power??? 96kw???
If im wrong pls tell me just trying to help and clarify some issues!:D
ps. dont want to take attention away from the original question!

Si has full disc brakes all around - as does vti. Vti comes with ABS later on tho.
Both the Si d16a8 DOHC engine , and the vti d16y8 SOHC engines, produce the same peak power = 96kw.

From a drag race - totally stock between the two , same driver etc - the Si will pull ahead from 2nd gear tho.

thanks benjamin for clarifying that for me, strange though how they have same power and yet the si will pull? Let me at him bro! :D

Just based on experience on "off street" racing other stock / modded vtis in the past - my stock ( 55kw atw lol) si has always pulled ahead quite abit. Sometimes crappy driver- soemtimes good driver. Oh well lol.

Thats a strong statement against the vti ben!

NOTE: Not all VTi's have ABS (in fact most of them don't!) Vti has a better interior than the Si though.

I don't think the EG Vti model came with ABS at all. But the sunroof and SRS was a standard item from 94-95 on the Vti.

Vti is abit more refine, engine was more quiet some with interior noise, but Si has more torque at low end. both really about the same. I think the Si is a little bit lighter in terms of weight.

Is a bad thing Honda don't offer factory sunroof as an option now.

Ive seen some SIs with sunroof, but then again ive seen Breezes and GLis with sunroofs.
Its a rarety but not completely out of the question to find a SI with a sunroof.

As Win said the interior trim is nicer in the VTi, and they get a cup holder *jelious* :( !!

I prefer a DOHC engine, vtec or not, so id still opt for the SI... but its personal preferece, very similar top model EGs =]

Rematch damnit!!!

This time i got no 17s and altezzas to weight me down!!!

Anyways....

EG Vti's Dont have ABS!!! .... EK Vti's have it Im pretty sure.

EG Vti's all came with cupholders, theyre pretty useless anyways barely hold a cup, not too sure about Si's.

Thought Ive seen some without it, some people might buy the cupholaders and replace it with their stock ones, or it could of been a dealer option I dunno.

PS :OFF TOPIC- Anyone one remember a while back that Vti Civic at the Dyno day that had a open intake running?? ROFL, flies were coming out thru teh exhuast.

Question, maybe abit n00bish, Seeing as the vti is already vtec do you need to change axles if doing a b-series swap?
