Can you put a 12000K globe in to a 6000K ballast? Or vice versa? If so what what results should you expect?

Pretty sure if you put the 12000K globe into the 6000k ballast it would only push 6000K power through the hid, or it wont work at all. Would most likely be the same as a 6000K, but isnt anything over 8000K illegal?

You'll get stupid 12000K purple glare. Please have some consideration for other drivers on the road.

HID's are no problem when properly adjusted.

No such thing as a 6000k ballast fool! Ballasts don't determine colour temperature

Think of the ballast as a amplifier... It doesnt matter what bulb you put in, the power will still be the same

The 6000k, 8000k etc etc is just the bulb temp as pointed out, even though ur eyes might see 8000k stronger than 6000k, in reality there both use the same power an create the same amount of lighting

^this guy is right. The power output is still the same, the colour rating has nothing to do with the amount of colour

They're all illegal.

They are technically illegal if the car didn't come with them from the factory, particularly if the car does not have projectors etc

my current car has HID as stock from factory and doesn't have projectors, is that considered illegal?

my old eg used 6000K HID and i always made sure to point it as low as possible...never had any issues with cops when they randomly pulled me over at nights...rarely had issues with oncoming traffic either (unless the car is pointed climbing up)
