Booked my car in for a service at honda this friday (~30,000km)
and they're quoting me 250 for the service, +wheel allignment $55 + Emmissions service $50.
What's an emissions service? Is it some kind of upsell or is it something that usually gets down around 30k service?

usually all they do is clean/check all the 02 sensors and run a bottle of fuel system cleaner through the fuel tank - like the stuff nulon makes

So I guess for 50 bucks its alright if they say i need to get it done?

depends on the car i suppose ... if its fairly new than it probably doesnt need it - running a batch of fuel cleaner and cleaning or replacing the sensors will give better fuel economy tho
i dont know if the economy boost will be enough to make up for $50 lol
and a bottle of nulon total fuel system cleaner is only $22 at Auto1
just call them and ask them what is involved - that way you can make a better decision

yeah they said they clean they basically flush out all the oil from the car to make sure none of the old oil residue is left.
I just wonder if this sort of thing is something they say needs to be done or they just do it and charge you later kind of thing. I asked the service girl and she was like, yeah we do it all at the same time as your service which wasnt really clear.

Guess what. I called them up again and thats EXACTLY what they chuck in -.- guess i saved a few bucks afterall!
Would running 98 RON for a few weeks be the same as chucking in a cleaner ?

almost - but not the same
u should always run the car on min of 95 anyway
just run a batch of Nulon Total fuel system cleaner through with a tank of 98
oil flush should be included in the price of a service anyway ...
