Hi there, I've got a dc5r with some strange sound ONLY when driving with 2400-2800rpm. I tried to rev it 2400-2800rpm when the car stopped, but the sound disappeared. The only thing I confirm is the sound just appear when the car moving between 2400-2800rpm.
Let me describe the sound, it is like a tagger stick with something close, once there are some vibrations, you can imaging that sound. I hope you guys can understand.

Anyone got any idea?

Huge stab in the dark here but I'm going to go with engine mounts gone and possibly exhaust making noise from excess movement

Sorry I cant really tell where is it from because I can just hear it when I driving. I think it should be from in front of me tho.

figure out the problem first, we haven't given you a definite answer. Nothing can beat taking it to a mechanic and having it looked at properly. could be something srs

fix it first for sure

read my mind, have to agree with that.

Does the noise happen in certain gears? like if ur moving in 4th and drop the revs to 2400-2800rpm does the noise still happen

Thanks for recommendation. it happens every gears even N gear. It really accurate, only make that sound within 2400-2800rpm.
I am going to the mechanic today anyway. will update.

Get a friend, open the bonnet and boot and put the car in neutral and keep the revs at the point yu hear the noise and try narrow down where its coming from

Where's your knocking exactly coming from roughly?
Quite possible that your exhaust has broken off a hanger and vibrating against to create this sound but need an idea where the sound is coming from.

Not sure what a 'tagger stick' is or sounds like but if its a tinny rattling sound then possibly the exhaust heat shield is rattling against the worn metal bushing holding it on.
Slide under the car and tap and shake all the heat shields around the exhaust manifold. Remove the heat shield and silicone the bushing if its the problem.

if its a knocking sound then good chance your engine mounts are shot.
