Hello everyone. I have come across a damaged thread in the block for the head blots. Looking to carry out a timesert repair ( head has to be removed ). Looking for any tips/info from anyone who has done one of these. Any suggestions as to locate some 11x1.5mm suitable timeserts. Thanks, any info would be great

timesert/recoil/helicoil are all auitable brands to use.
Everything you need should be included in the kit, the correct drill bit to drill out the damaged thread, the tap to rethread the now oversized whole, and the tool used to insert the new thread.
Basically you just drill the old hole out, using plenty of wd40/similar to lube it up, retap that hole, and the new insert just screws into this.
Once the heads off, its literally a 15 minute job, tops.
As for where to buy, check out nut&bolt shops, Auto parts stores, ebay, etc etc

Just a few things to be wary of. When re-tapping the oversized hole you drill make sure you tap it square to the hole. In fact you want to be very careful drilling that hole out that you don't go in on an angle. I'd suggest investing in an engineers square, when you start the tap, wind it in a revolution or two, then use the engineers square to check its square. Make sure you check it both ways ie check one way then put the square 90 degrees to where you checked and check its square that way too.
If you don't understand what I mean I can put a pic up of how to check its going in straight. If you've tapped holes you'll understand what I mean, if not, my explanation might be a bit vague.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to use a spare head I have as a jig to ensure that both the holes are drilled & tapped square.
