I got a few steps further along on my ED project. Full story later, but today, I got the engine in my donor car running on the original wiring loom (a challenge, seeing how it was chopped and tucked and had an aftermarket alarm spliced in), and dropped it out of that car. Photos didn't happen much, but when I can get some more pics happening, I'll start a build thread.

Correction I think it was $20 for 4kg. I ended up using around 3-4kg. All you gotta do is put it in a bag so you can reuse the ice.

I wouldn't advise removing deadening. It's horrible to drive in. The firewall deadening weighs a lot but the floor deadening doesn't weigh that much

given you are using both your ED heater control, and ED heater box there is no issue. You have nothing to connect up anyway...

just connect the fan button and AC switch if you are keeping it.... everything else on the heater control is manually adjusted. Make sense?

Hey guys, Don't post anything about my, tried a build thread on jdmst but lost interest quick.

Did this: OBD2A EFI loom for 4 door sedan

A few updates to share, but no pictures.

So in the last week, the engine and loom has come out of my ed, and the engine has come out of my donor car. I recently purchased a set of hasport mounts, ef9 fuel tank etc. Turns out the mounts were for hydro, not cable, and I'm still waiting on the fuel tank. Hmm. Anyway, slowly getting there, conversion should be complete by the end of march

Engine, gearbox, loom, da9 driveshafts, ecu, hasport ef B series shift linkages/ef9 shift linkages, EF B series hasport mounts ( if you have cable gear box you will need cable mounts, hydro box will need hydro mounts). EFI tank, change fuel hoses to efi rated hoses. think that's about it.

If converting just convert to B series. Not that much different in price.

SHOGUNOVDDRK
21-02-2013, 06:32 PM
^ I disagree. I've seen Y1 swaps sell for 300 bucks VS a a2 set up going for a lot more (anywhere from 600-2500 and then some)

In an ED:
A D16y1 is bolt on with factory EG mounts (no extra mounts to buy)
Wiring isn't too fierce (or use a piggyback set up - ECU for lights etc and ECU for engine)
Existing driveshafts will fit (from EG or ED)
Shifter linkage is a case of using existing hardware or EG hardware.
Fuel injection can be sorted by an external pump (like AH OEM)
Exhaust will likely have to be worked on regardless.

If you're lucky, you'll have almost everything you'd need for the swap just by getting the package.

Chernoby1
21-02-2013, 08:22 PM
I was estimating 1k for y1 vs 2k for bseries.

Then again if the sound is more important than performance I should probably shut up.

Miguelone
18-03-2013, 11:32 PM
Generally yeah, can't log a fault unless the engines running and sensors etc are seeing load. When you try and start it does it get oil pressure? Although I guess if it's barely cranking you won't really know yet.

CivicEGSI
18-03-2013, 11:36 PM
Yeah true that. Um, The oil light doesn't go away because yeah, engine doesn't actually start. Also, when i turn the lights on the fuel goes to full tank, and then when i turn them off, it goes to empty. so ****ing weird.

i had some fuel issues recently in my ed9 crx so i finally replaced the fuel filter, running sweet now and upon having a look at the whole car, realized my brake discs were almost finished, so purchasing some new ones, RDA187D slotted, blind drilled, dimpled series, but every company i call they have to make them for my car and it will take up to 2 weeks, so luckily i am in the car trade and got some good prices, so ordered them in. :)

I might be able to grab some tomoz. Basically it uses the same bolts as the bumper support, it just gets sandwhiched between the bumper support and the bulk head.

If all you grabbed from the EF is what's in the pic, then you still need another part of the bracket that's probably still bolted to the car.

I just did a quick shoopdewhoop, this is what makes the magic happen:

These are the ones correct (pic taken from the net)? The EF2 never had those, only these ones which are held on with a few welds onto the bumper support.

This is the EF2 bumper support

http://i43.tinypic.com/a5jmmt.jpg
http://i44.tinypic.com/hu0k2f.jpg

And this is the Concerto one, you see how the mount to the chassis is alot further back compared to the EF2.

http://i40.tinypic.com/35ch9ae.jpg

here it is with the bolt mounting face lined up with the Concerto one, you can see how the top part is not even close to the bumper support

the eg/dc2 one will work? i cant seem to find a specific ed/ef version.

No EG/DC2 upper control arms are a completely different shape. If you want to go low you don't want adjustable camber arms, as their additional bulk means they'll smack into the suspension tower more so than the OEM arms.

As far as I know the hardrace EF/ED front upper control arms are discontinued.

Renaissance_x
08-09-2013, 03:15 PM
From what I have heard is that skunk 2 need to be cut to avoid smacking into the strut tower and hardrace don't

I may be confused though.

Also for crx you have to ask for hardrace, skunk2 or ebay shit to the best of my knowledge when it comes to camber.

everything is bolted up, for test anyway

But once you tighten that last valve cover bolt, suddenly your alt doesn't clear anymore.

Today I...

Recently spent about $2k on getting roadworthy done in preparation for sale.
Having a tough time selling though as a buyer just fell through!

Looking a lot cleaner with the polished headlights though :)

So I haven't really had time to do anything to it but today I had some free time and decided to clean up the headlights, and then paint around the housing black to give a deep finish
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/05/613326b472a90dee989c615d3dae9c67.jpg
Then I've been deciding to make the headlights yellow or not so I tinted one of them
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/05/5563a88311bc112e1757c78da0846133.jpg
I didn't have enough tint for the second headlight but thought this would help me decide, what do you guys think?

Looks really shit. Looks like they were plastic headlights that've spent 30 years perishing in the sun and they've gone yellow.

I spent yesterday arv doing some things...

Clear lights make it look much cleaner, and you can never get the amber of the indicator to match the 'yellow'.. But that's my opinion!

Pulled interior out (everything but the dash) and cleaned it. Whilst there I re wired the stereo and front and rear speakers (shout out to those who helped me on FB when problems arose). Was my first time installing but nothing blew up when I turned it on so should be good, lol. Got a few things here and there left to do before a blue slip next week. Hopefully nothing else pops up. Every time I fix one thing I find another, lol.
