Hey guys!

I noticed there was no thread for early model civics, so I decided to make one, as I will be buying and ED in the near future, and I want somewhere to post pictures and ask questions etc. So please, everyone, post away! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Don't everybody post at once ok. I'll start. My plan is to buy an ED GL for cheap that's for sale in my suburb. Then convert it to efi and do an engine swap. I just have some questions though. When converting to efi I will be using an 88 crx fuel tank, upgrade to higher pressure rated fuel lines (ofc) and add a vent hose from the carbon canister, and mount a fuel filter. Just a question though, do carby cars already have a carbon canister? Is there anything else I need? Besides new engine and loom etc. Any help would be great. I know this question has been asked 4000 times, so don't rant about how I should search, that's what this thread is for. Cheers :)

No you wont, shock mounts are the same as the civic. As are swaybar links

You would use your standard LCAs so you didnt have to run type r shocks.

You just reuse your stock rear lower control arm, no need to change them over.

Hahaha yeah, I was quite dissapointed when I noticed. But i have some skunk2 coils on the way, so that should fix it up :)

Some bad news also, went for a drive yesterday to fill up the tank and maybe find some corners to test out the car, but mr. Po po was waiting at the servo, so i got a yellow sticker and a nice fine. ****.

So didn't happen today but good story.
I had to change my fuel pump in my dark blue crx.
So I dropped the tank, took the old pump out and rewired the new one in.
Thought why I had it up I would service it.
Did that then let it kick over for a bit, then took it for a drive.
Its the first time I've serviced it since I've bought it lol.
...... Oh yeah I did lower it a lil while ago hehe (Lowered the coil overs in front and put rear coiled sleeves in the back).........
So took it for the drive and it was running really well through town.
Took it on the on ramp and gave it a bit (went so well).
Hit about 110km and then it happen.
The hole ass end started to float, tell ya wasn't as fun as you might think

Washed my car today, pull the spark plugs out and the head off. Gasket is ****ed and plugs have oil on each one of them. LOL time to do full service

Changed oil, filter, valve cover gasket, spark plugs today, car starts sooo much better. Doesn't splutter anymore and no more oil coming out of exhaust, yay!

Just got it off egay man. Easier than waiting to autobarn to order. yeah, only reason I had to change it is because the last owner tried to put it back on after paint valve cover faggot red, and fuked it up. Just sealant around the corners and a light smear on the straights for piece of mind :P

boys boys boys, got an offer today to buy an ef9 wreck off a mate of a mate.

It has some pretty bad front end damage - not a repairable matter but the engine still runs. everything from the mirrors back is in pretty good nick (including the interior).

For me interior is worth a big if you look at prices on ebay or yahoo auction, if the a/c panel ha no cracks worth about 200, and any other JDM goodies are worth something to someone
Plus you got all the parts for rear disc swap and bigger front disc too but check before to use the front hubs yo see if there not bent or broken
I say buy it

The motor and gearbox may look and be ok, but after crush like that there will be some damage to block or gearbox housing cracks maybe

TBH the reason why he wants that much for the b16 in that EF9 is because it's OBD0 and cable driven. Doing a hydraulic conversion isn't easy, there are kits, but most are developed for LHD and there are hasport ones which still use cable (but often snap).

On another note, I'll buy the cluster and the cluster housing for $100?

haha when you actually do it you'll see, hush performance is still developing RHD, which is probably impossible as where the clutch pedal pivots is too shallow and will hit the top. If you try and order the kit off Hush, there is no option to ship to Australia once you click checkout (cos' it doesn't work with RHD)

As with the sonem EF, same deal, how these kits work is that they mount the clutch MC facing towards the driver therefore pushing the pin towards the driver rather than towards the engine bay. However, as I mentioned before in this post, where our clutch pedals pivot, there is not enough room to even mount a CMC on to do a true cable to hydro conversion. So what I did was I cut the firewall and mounted the CMC on the firewall.

I have 2x zc's.
1 was turbo'd before it was seized, I'm just guna pull it out (turbo kit is gone) and put in a b20vtec.
Has headers n stuff, sing out if you need parts.
I do have d16 in another crx maybe I should build an engine out of them all

Thought i would play with my dark blue crx.
I gave it a service and put in a new fuel pump in. Every thing was good when i took it for a drive.
turns out my main relay is fck, i resolderered some bad spots but no luck.
I redid all the solder joints and yet to try it again..
Might try one out of the other crxs

But keep in mind that the firewall wasn't designed for a hydro clutch so reinforcement may be required either by creating flanges or reinforcing braces. I've just cut and welded. Henrygiang (maddest username) did a different cleaner approach

The imob lost power, went into a safety loop and can't bw brought out until you do a manual override. To do thus you need a 4 digit pin that I done have. Le sigh. (I've worked out how to do it though)

Biggest problem with the remote was that it's surface mount and I don't have a small enough tip :(

Fair few more results on YJ. There's a reasonable amount of eyelet parts, just not big in the US so im guessing exposure is limited to those who understand japanese. (i cannot speak/read any of it btw, google translate ftmfw)
