And
Another small update
Mrs. was driving Eliera
And the warning/parl brake light came on
This has come on before while driving
So i got out and fiddled with the wiring to the brake master cylinder
Didn't work
Checked the brake fluid - it was below low
Second time this has happened within 4 days

I'm thinking my brake master cylinder is going out
Or i got a leak in my lines

curtis265
19-11-2012, 08:37 PM
notice any spots on the floor when u park overnight?

any missing paint in the bay?

Jasemas
20-11-2012, 12:42 AM
Nothing that i can see man
I'm thinking an internal leak
Before the cruise i'll replace my bleed my brakes and check the whole system thoroughly
Hopefully next year
i'll get my braided lines, pads and master cylinder done

oem bonnet protector

http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w412/jasemas/IMAG0569.jpg?t=1357397182

http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w412/jasemas/IMAG0572.jpg?t=1357397051

Turns out the last owner of my cd5 neglected to put back the rubber boot over the headlight housing connecter...
The H4 bulb was held in by its connector and sticky tape...
So i grab the rubber boot from my spare headlight and i pop everything back together
Come back and the connector has literally melted /sigh
S'okay shall source parts from cb7

Fixed the headlight problem
Turned out the grounding wire's insulator was worn away and shorted out - thus melting the plastic connector
Went to the cb7 and took its connector
Soldered and heat shrinked the ****er (had to remove air box assembly to make room) THANKS JJ/GENE A.K.A GU537
All good now

And the oem bonnet protector's holes didn't match up with my bonnet ( i assume it was suppose to have special clips to attatch it to the bonnet)
It would literally fall of the car when you pop the hood lol
Ended up drilling 4 holes in the bonnet and fitted cable ties - bazinga!!!! Doesn't fall off THANKS AGAIN JJ/JENE A.K.A GU537

GU357
20-02-2013, 07:58 PM
Dont think its pierced, the short motor is pretty thick, unless a conrod let loose and smashed it out from the inside, becuase nothing else in there could really go throw it and you would have to be going very fast.

could be PS fluid.
or damage to sump. depending how high the oil is visible in the bay.

Cheers guys appreciate the thoughts

Assessor called today
They have valued our car at $5000
At that point was expecting a pay out
Nah - they want to try and get it repaired/quotes
So i'll keep you guys updated
The insurance company is RAC - and they're really good

If it was GIO - theyd only offer $3500...
So i'm happy with the outcome

Hahah i know right?
RAC thought it'd be nice - cause my fiance is pregnant to get the car fixed rather than write it off
It's nice that they are fixing it
Nahh the rear panel damage doesn't count
They quoted me $600
So they said - if you want to get it done, do it now as the car is getting sprayed
But got no money bro

Bugger.

Or, offer them cash on the side, serious.

I don't quite see how it's a nice touch to repair a car rather than write it off. A nice touch would be to consult the owner...

Nevertheless if you're attached to your car then i suppose it's the right way forward.

Jasemas
26-02-2013, 02:34 PM
Ah I don't think I can offer cash on the side
Fiance didn't really know what to say when they said they.were gonna repair the car
By the time we decided to write her off.... Repairs were upnder way
I just dropped off the pod filter... And P/S fluid
I asked about the A/C lines
He said the condensor is getting replaced... And the A/C is getting regassed.

Called the panel beaters today
Turns out they put the car back together
And it 'didn't seem right'
They then pulled it apart and realised the radiator support beam needs to be replaced
I MEAN ITS BEEN IN A ****ING ACCIDENT AND THATS THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD OF CHECKED ****WIT
So i call up the assessor and he said that because of this the car could be written off
So know we have to wait til next wednesday... So ****ing pissed

Some bits aren't finished
The rubber housing around the corner lights haven't been properly glued on
The bumper needs a re-alignment
There's a small bit in the engine bay that needs painting
I need to take her back in again next week to finish it off - no cost
I'm amazed at the work they've done
The lights aren't OEM they're DEPO's
I'm not complaining
As my Stanley's were in shit condition - these look brand new

But there is some coolant coming out of the radiator cap...
Hoping i just need to replace the cap

So...
Got my car back today
My left wheel was pushed back 20mm - they didn't notice for 3 weeks until i told them something was wrong with the steering
They pulled that out
Car got a wheel alignment
Apparently the transmission cooler hose or some shit in the radiator was leaking my transmission fluid - that appears to be fixed
Took the car out for a small drive
OMG dat wheel alignment... Car doesn't veer off - it drives straight now

Cheers mate
I'm always doing D.I.Y stuff on my car

With patience and a good angle - i used needle nose long pliers
My fiance tried to help but wasn't enough room
I pretty much used the caliper cover as a wedge and pushed the piston in - i may have made a few nicks in the caliper
I used a bit of silicone paste so the boot wouldn't bind
I have done these brakes before ( on my last accord) And took my uncle and i 3 hours as we didn't know you had to twist them in

BG-33P
14-04-2013, 06:59 PM
Lol yeah, first times always a pain. just gotta watch out for the seals and boots.

You got new control arms to go in too? They look different from one side to the other.

Jasemas
14-04-2013, 07:20 PM
Nahh man they're the ones on the car

no that could damage the system, thats like tightening a bolt by just hammering it down onto the thread.
so by just pushing it back in you damage the scroll gear connected to the piston.

if you were to keep doing it eventually i would imagine you will have rear brake issues, like the hand brake not activating properly or the pads will keep recessing too far away from the discs so the rear brakes will be doing much less braking and more travelling.

rears need to be turned because it turns when the handbrake is pulled. so by just pshing it back in you damage the scroll gear connected to the piston.

And

Small update
Have been losing brake fluid since i bought the car
As once a fortnight i'd need to fill up the reseviour - it'd be on the low line
But 2 months ago it would be once a week i'd need to fill up
And recently it was daily
So yesterday i bought a 2nd hand brake line for $35 and replaced my front left brake line
No more leaks

Honda were asking $150 for both front rubber lines and 4 weeks shipping
... Add another $100 and you got braided lines haha

doesnt it come with them? my jazz and s2k both have courtesy style lighting like key out and light comes on, unlock and lights come on etc. you could always wire up to that?

it does, but the person (merc mechanic :p) who installed my power window regulator connected up the wrong wire, in effect frying this "logic controller". wierdly enough, its only the door courtesy lights that fail to illuminate. dome lights, ignition lights, all work on command remote lock/unlock, key in/out, etc.

but at ~$350 (+ shipping from the US and finding someone to send it) i question if i should even bother. maybe ill go look for a wreck keep it in my backyard and just salvage parts of there.

you see, with normal cars, its often just a switch and a direct wire to the fuse box that controls the courtesy lighting. however with the legend the boffins decided in their infinite wisdom that they will get a controller box to do the work for them, eliminating wires and making the car light with less wiring and what not. they also decided to charge like a wounded bull when it comes to parts.

Baby Face
10-09-2013, 07:55 PM
could they be connected to seperate controllers? or the door ones could just be switches? if they died seperate, quite odd

i have this wierd tingling feeling. if its there it has to work. but like i said $350+ for a bit of metal, a circuit board does seem abit rich to me, considering that the car isnt worth much, and i am looking at an upgrade soon-ish. so i much rather the money go towards something else than a car that is going to be scrapped in the near future.

pointless to be honest. flagship cars ive noticed cannot lower the backseat. for the S class and LS i understand, because the fuel tank is behind the back seat passengers. not sure about 7 series; my guess its probably the same?

for the legend, the fuel tanks are located under the back seats, so no reason why you wouldnt have the back seat with the ability to be lowered for additional luggage space.

as for 2014 s class, im not 100% sold yet. i find the design language to be one step backwards, prefer the sharper look of the LS, but im tempted to try the auto suspension sounds like a great piece of technology. to be blunt, if i was in the market for an S class, i would go for a facelifted W221

that isnt too bad. you couldnt even get a gates kit for those prices, and if you could, it definitely wouldnt be honda oem.

Theyre good luxurious (at the time) hondas arent they?
This is my second 5th gen accord
I've also had a 4th gen - more jdm :P

And yeah all mine keep getting written off
This current one was suppose to get written off - but insurance paid over $5500 to fix it
Wish i got paid out - would of bought a Vti-S and had money for mods and maintenance, oh well

i cant wait to do your timing belt, only issue is. why didnt you let honda do it for 450?
they are insured so if they stuff up they pay for it, if we stuff it up. you pay for it :|

or even have a reputable workshop supply labor whilst you supply parts.

surely someone like honmaz would be able to install it for you?

Jasemas

Honda said $450 but didnt go into further details of replacing water pump, crankshaft seal, balance seal and oil pump seal
Not to mention according to some honda people they dont replace the idler bearings
Car's almost at 300,000kms
This kit has everything and is OE supplier - couldnt find oem kit that woudship to oz
Honda North was pricing the parts seperately...
I heard some time ago Honda Australia complained about people like us buying Honda parts over seas without going to them - so they've stopped

to be fair, most of australian retail can go jump off a cliff and die for all i care. they overcharge like a wounded bull and expect australian consumers to just bend over and put up with that nonsense.

i think its because we are becoming to used to convenience at low cost, like kmart shit. and now that non kmart items are available online at cheap prices these places that have to pay for rent need to charge more.
but w.e anyway.

i found SCA is actually useful for ordering something in at decent prices, through australian and sometimes even WA sources

im not about you, but i have found that australian retail these days to be littered with cheap imports sold at overinflated prices. target, kmart, supercheap auto (to a lessor degree!), bunnings, the list goes on.

but trade prices for some things are actually pretty good. the other day i went to visit a mate who does key cutting for hondas (computer cut, clone, program, etc), honda themselves were actually selling them to him at decent prices, without the B$ about warranty, and what not.

actually a lot of super cheap stuff is a rip off, but the convenience you cant help it/. like lights and things.
i think the australian market is a lil bit sick or unwell especially when compared to others.

most places tell them your a tradie, as mechanics dont actually have a license/card anyone can be. when i go to coventries i say is that trade price? etc.

to be honest, ive never bought much from supercheap, as i have a couple of cars under my care, i find myself buying stuff every few months from overseas, and whilst im at it, i will just place an order or two for globes and wiper blades.

cant really remember when i last bought my parts for my car locally other than at a honda dealer as part of their servicing (charged me $50 for some shitty repco special wiper assemblies from china)

I usually go to sca for oil, filters, tools and other discounts lol
Use to go to Honda for oem stuff
Now just buy overseas oem
And plus doing the install yourself you're saving heaps of labour and the new tools you buy can be used in the future

actually never thought about asking if the price was trade price - do all hardware stores seperate trade and normal price?

Some people pack up washers underneath the low spots before mounting.

What motor is this? D16y? Would like to have one of these in the wagon one day

F22b1 yo!
Honda's big block sohc
Pretty much a D16/D15b VTEC with a bit more torque and power - think of it as the big brother to the D, but littler to the H series

shouldve just used an impact wrench on the stiff bugger. should come off pretty easy, otherwise put a socket on the end and smash the hell out of it with a hammer first.

Jasemas
19-04-2014, 02:31 PM
Hahaha I WIN
**** YOU CAR!!!!!!!
I eventually got the axle removed
Borrowed my mates 1/2" impact - no good
Modified the setup and attached an extension to the socket to a breaker bar, and rested it on a scissor jack
Biggest problem i had was the lower balljoint wouldn't come loose
Pretty much had to take the whole knuckle off
After an hour of fiddling with the axle
I realised you had to shove it in like a slide hammer

Anyways no more bad axle

didnt even know what that car is, but reading about it on wikipedia made me smile.
honda seems to just be better;

"The Concerto was sold in both liftback and sedan and built in two locations, Austin Rover's Longbridge plant for the European market, and by Honda in Suzuka, Mie, Japan. One difference between the British built and Japanese built Concertos was in the front suspension - versions built in Longbridge had MacPherson struts, unlike their Japanese counterparts which had double wishbones."
