Hi guys, this is a very noobie question but then i guess we are all here to learn new things everyday. What is the point of having 2 headunits?! I see quite a few cars now with 2. Can someone please explain to the the advantage of this rather than having 1? and the point of it?

Thanks. :p

I dont think people have 2 headunits in a car. you might be thinkin of a monitor or a double din unit that looks like 2 units?.

sum ppl buy a cd tuner and keep their existing radio cassette which comes stock with the car...

but thats for ppl going the cheap way out and still want cassette.. i always get it at work...

some oem head units are for more than just sound, some are integrated into climate control and so forth. It can be a lot easier to leave the oem in to keep other things working, whilst installing an aftermarket head unit to take care of the sound department.

I have three in my heap but I tend to use mine for demostrating stuff because I'm a shop. I use the Alpine TV to demostrate A/V stuff. I use the MD player under it to demo Minidisc (not so much nowadays though) and I use the third head unit for sound quality (good for things like crusing and sound off's). :)

there is also a popular factory setup these days which have a cd/tape player with an in dash cd stacker underneath it in the second din slot ... often they look like a second cd player

i have two headunits but one's a tv which runs through the cd player ....

:D
