Well as the title says...VTC noise at cold start (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRRo_t_Tlu8) on colder mornings, only for a few seconds. Looking over the webz ...this appears to be an issue especially in colder climates but is starting to happen to mine. Vehicle done 120K.

This appears to be a bit of an issue on these engines, need to replace VTC actuator. Well, that's going to cost! Time to pension it off? Pity everything else is still top notch.

edit:

oppps mods pls move to Accord forum not Euro...although this is pretty much the same engine it belongs in Accord forum.

Ok the outcome

Went to Honda and Toyota looking to downsize to a new car. Honda have Civic Vti-S for $23,990 drive away (Ringwood). Couldn't refuse...much better than Toyota, so changeover is $11,500. The Toyota was ok but felt noisy in the cabin and was way more expensive. We had a 2008 civic so we knew what they are like...save for they now have features and more that were extras on our old civic vti-L.

So pretty much all done bar the signing. I'll miss the 2.4L but meh...the civic isn't all that bad!
