How much of a gain do cams give in VTEC engines?
Say for example a B18C?
I realise all cams are different, but in general what would a stage 1, 2 and 3 cam give?

u need cam gears, valve springs and retainers plus tuneable ECU to make the most of the cams. otherwise useless

like zelda said
need the above mods to make it happen
though.
you will see a slight gain without those mods
not power increase but, power delivery through out the rev range

Sorry I didn't make it clear but assuming the car has everything done and cams is the next step
Namely: CAI, twin throttle body setup with bigger plenum, match ported intake manifold, ported heads, extractors, high flow cat, exhaust, e-manage, FPR, valve springs, cam gears etc

this gain will depend on the seriousness of your mods
well for an average car
you'll expect around 15-20kw atw increase
so if u have more expect more

Also, the higher profile cams(inevitably more power, more if it's tuned) you go for, you are going to lose out on the lower end of the RPM. You might wanna choose a set which still retains drivability on a daily basis...

Well cams for my engine are $2500
Along with the price of the associated valvetrain it will cost quite a bit. So at this stage I am thinking maximum top end power
As it is the car has quite a bit of low end torque. I can easily accelerate and keep up with traffic from 40km/h in 4th
