ok im having this problem with the rear speakers in my LS Teg, i replaced the stock rears with some sony 6 inch 3-ways which i had lyring around my house, into the stock location... now the problem is that they sound really crap, really 'poppy' if there is any sort of bass so i just have them faded out so they dont get much power. So i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they have done to fix it
thanks

are they going through an amp or straight off ur head deck?
depending on the deck theres different settings u can play around with to adjust the bass... just a wild suggestion :D

Check for tears/crinkles those sort of stuff on the speakers, even a small one can make the bass sound like its flapping.
Check the connections and make sure the positive/negative terminals are plugged in correctly on the speakers. If the negative wire is plugged into the positive terminal on the speakers and the positive to the negative, what would happen is that the bass comes out really weak and rather as you would call it "poppy".
Loose wires can cause choppy sounds but I doubt it would just affect just the bass but hey its a possibility.
Simple test to see if the problem lies with your speakers or wiring, plug in another set of speakers and see if it does the same thing.
There are other possibilities but yea those are just general points which you can try to sort out your problem. Other than that you might want to take it to someone who know what they're doing.

I doubt them being a SONY would be the culprit. Could be that they've been pumped too hard and the drivers are now damaged. I'm not saying that SONY arent crap either.

I have 3 way explodes I bought to fill holes in my parcel tray... I took them out but gave them another try a while latter, once I beefed up the whole system... they did the same kinda thing... Just crappy speakers I think!
ask urself:
are the speakers in good condition?
did u boost the bass or turn on the loudness? ur speakers might not be able to handle it. that could be the speaker itself or cos by bad installation.

i reckon fade them out, and enjoy the front speakers (assuming u have a good pair). i just finished my system and just installed a pair of 4" 2-ways in the back for rear fill, but i have the DSO on 3, so the back is barely audible. if ur that desperate for back speakers, try swapping the front with the back, or find a spare pair to try to isolate the problem. it may also b the wiring from the HU itself, not just the speaker side.

Check the overall condition of the speaker. If the cone is torn, that is obviously the problem. Double check the wiring and connections. If everything is in order, the speakers may just be faulty. Good Luck
