Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

This DIY is really basic for a DC2R, I think mainly because it doesn't have sound deadening!
But here goes a step by step guide of the way I did it. :)

AIM: To remove the rear seats from a DC2 Integra Type-R.

TOOLS:
- Pair of plyers
- 10mm socket wrench

STEPS:

1)
Fold the back rests down and goto the sides. Where the back rest is connected and pivots, you'll find a small plastic clip like the one pictured.
All you need to do is to grab your plyers and yank it out - I didn't need much force to pull mine out.

Detailed shot of the clamp:

2)
Once the clips are out, push the back rest to the side and it should come out quite easily.
Do the same to the other side.

3)
Take your back rests out and you'll find that the bottom part of the seat is screwed in (the nut is towards the middle).
Unscrew this nut with your 10mm socket wrench.

4)
Lift from the back of the seat up like so:

5)
Finally, you'll find that the seat is still on by these things:

Pivot the seat and remove it in a way so that you can pull it out.

6)
Take out any unnessecary junk in the back and you should be left with this:

** For off-road use only! **
I'm sure that it is a defect in NSW to remove the rear seats,
I'm not certain about other states. Please check with your local road.

--------------------

Noise factor:
Being a Type-R, it never had a sound deadening anyway.
So road noise hasn't increased much.
The only noise increase is that it now echoes inside the cabin - which is expected anyway.

The End!

if you dont carry any passengers why dont you just get it re-registered as a two seater so then you can keep it like that?

handle/accelerate better or wot?

Not sure if it handles better, I didn't really "Test run" it.
Only ran without the rear seats for 2-3 days before I needed to put the seats back in.
But it did feel alot lighter! The car was a tad bit more responsive?

Some might but I'm not hardcore enough to run without an interior..
It echoes inside the cabin and you can hear your fuel slosh around.. hehe!

I walked outside and started talking to the road and got no response. Negative Rep for misleading D.I.Y.

Should also note, removing rear seats on a DC2 is exactly the same as removing rear seats from an EG.

just wear a helmet when driving zico, it muffles the noise and you feel like you are racing...

When I took the seats out of my car to change fuel-pumps, I realised the uselessness of ever doing it for "performance". The foam they are made of is so incredibly light; the part you sit on would not even weigh 1kg.

The type-r interior is beautiful, leave it in!

How much weight do you save?

just so you know the Ek's and similar civics use the same method to remove the seats.

Your road just doesn't like you. I had a very informative discussion with the lane next to work.

Nice DIY. haha. When I was getting my sound system installed, I drove around for nearly a week, with no rear seats, and no front passenger seat. So I only had the drivers seat. Couldnt even drive mates...

All in a family Accord. I felt like the biggest racer.

Bulbasaur

not legal because your car obviously says it is a 4/5 seater and it is not.

can you get all the pics up?

Bludger
17-02-2012, 12:17 AM
grab some long nose pliers, pull the clip up.

push the seat to the side of the car and the backrest will come out.

the rest is easy.

have you even tried to have a look @ your seats .

if you haven't, have a go 1st and come back if you get nowhere.

Sounds perfect :D

I'mma do this now :p

best way to do this is by pulling on the seats till they come off

just keep pulling

it will eventually let go and release itself

no need for 100 steps nomsayin

Can be easier if you push from the boot... Get more force on the seat that way :D
