im not making up bullshit. you're trying to compare a stock rx8 with a tuned civic. thats like comparing a stocko ferrari with a 1000hp gtr, its a stupid comparison.
mate read what the thread is about ....
stop being in denial
55k + car compared to a 12k car i think that is a good comparsion
have u got a eg with a b16 ????
any thing esle u can come up with mate .........
by the way a stock enzo ferarri would give a 1000 hp gtr a good run for its money ......

if you want to compare them more directly, have the rx8 launch in first and the civic in second, then the comparisons would be slightly more relevant.
Not really. 1st gear in the RX-8 is still shorter than the 2nd gear of the Civic.
rotary motors are also more efficient in that more of their power gets to the wheels. a stock b16a jdm spec might produce 125kw at the motor, but it produces like 80fwkw (correct me if im wrong), where as the rotary puts around 110-130rwkw (correct me if im wrong again). these are going by the dyno results people seem to put online. factor in weight and the power to weight of the rotary is still slightly better.
Power to the wheels is a function of the transmission and drivetrain. Not the engine.
B16a puts down more power than 80kW atw. And I've seen stock RX-8s put down anything from 109kW to 122kW (both on the same day and on the same dyno)

hence i said slightly more relevant, not completely the same.
rotary motor has less moving parts, hence less energy wasted on each part, so the engine is somewhat relevant to power at the wheels.
@90LAN- i have read what the original topic about. the title is how fast is an rx8, the question was how fast they ran down the quarter mile, the statement was that he beat one, and the answer to the quarter mile time was given early in the thread.
no, i dont have a b16a powered eg6, but bragging about one beating an rx8 one time would be like me bragging about my ed6 keeping up with evos in the hills. until theres a time slip or a printed record, no one really gives a rats ass, even if i can keep up with the odd evo in the hills.

mate u always get off the topic for some reason.....
wonder why
funny how u can put your 2 cents in when u dont even own a eg b16
go put a b16 in your car then u will know to then
until then keep on dreaming ....
mate if u lived in brisbane u would know my car as do most ppl in brisbane that are into the honda scene
i dont need to prove time slips or kills or that bullshit
i drive my car to enjoy it even if it means passing a rx8 sometime at full throttle under the speed limit of course
as the majority of ppl on oz honda that have eg with a b16 know that it will beat a rx8
they are just sick of ppl like you who are in denial and cant relise that a civic can beat a rx8
thats why the cant be bother posting up in this thread any more
go race up the hills with your ed civic mate

That will change the kW at the flywheel figure then. And that in turn increases the kW at the wheels.

You may be right at some point, but i don't really agree with what you have said...if you say straight line, it may be a close one, but from what i know..from track i mean, RX8 can be pretty quick around the corner...actually, much faster than an EG6...
May be you haven't come across one that shattered your fantasy..hehe..

55k + car compared to a 12k car i think that is a good comparsion
new vs used price comparo isnt really a valid one, especially for 2 essentially very different cars...

i love all these pride talk, seriously, stop comparing, if u want to prove a old car is better than a new car and make urself happy about it, fair enough, but i think its stupid comparing modified cars to stock cars regardless of price. You have to understand stock car that are into production meets the road legal requirements in everyway, in terms of safety, emissions, noise, handling, etc etc, and they are not easy to meet. Yet, modified cars don't, which is why most of the aftermarket parts are made for track racing only. But back on to the topic, if you really want to know how fast it is, its really difficult because once again, it depends not only on car, but also driver, ive beaten 13psi 180sx in a straight line but i don't care because i know it's a once off and he probably made a mistake. I love my Hondas but VTEC isnt my world, sometimes i much prefer other technology. Just my 2 cent

see, i have that same opinion about your car, how can you say the rx8 is shit if you dont even own one? drive an rx8 and then you'll probably know that its a different car from a civic with a b16a.
the people that posted after you see where im coming from, its a pointless comparison. as far as i know, the only local civic that came with b16a stock started with the eg vtir, and that retailed for 30-33k when it came out, so essentially you're comparing a 33k car + mods to a stocko 55k car.
you cant just overtake an rx8 cruising at the speed limit and say thats enough to prove your car is faster than his. its like me overtaking a ferrari and then saying theyre shit, its a pointless comparison.

mate the rx8 has being said it lacks power and needs a turbo charger to make it a better all round package mate
owners of rx8's are saying this .........
apart from that it is a good all round car
but getting beaten is getting no matter what the situation is
but i would be pissed if i bought a new rx8 and got beaten by a civic
i dont need to drive a rx8 to know what they drive like i already know
it is a comparison between these two cars this is what the tread is about
but u are to thick to relise that

thats right, keep avoiding my answer to your original question, i already told you what this thread's original topic was about, and originally it wasnt a comparison between the two cars.
most b16a owners also complain that their cars lack torque and power and also believe that it needs a turbo, or a swap to a bigger block to make power. so why would the rx8 be any worse of a car if most b16a owners feel the same.
if you want to compare, then the rx8 is a better package than the civic overall. better factory interior, better factory audio, better factory power, better factory handling and better factory performance. the only thing the civic wins in is better fuel economy, better bang per buck for an old car, and better handling on tight roads, and a better shopping trolley.
stock rx8 will beat a stock eg6 civic on the track (marginally, but still a win) regardless of whether it lacks power or torque. thats despite the fact that the rx8 has more restrictions in place to keep the power down, and the civic having little or no restrictions.

mate u are dreaming again must be in the clouds when u go hill racing in your ed !!!!!
a stock eg6 is a superior car back when it was released back in 1991 mate
u have the rx8 which was release some years ago so there is at least a 10+ yr difference in techology
even a thick person like u can relised that
so a eg6 would giving it a good run for its money for having techolgy way before its time and still is giving it a good run for its money these days
like i said i dont care what u think u own a shit box ed and u are just going on your book worm exprience mate
i car that can beat or match in performance and cost 4 times less and has a tag of being a shopping trolley beating a so called sports car is pretty good to me
any way like i said been there dont that .........
and keep on dreaming mate ......

well if you're gonna say that, then what about the old 69 mustang. civic has 20 odd years of newer technology and would still lose to one. now you're a thick one if you didnt see this counter coming. how about you compare a car of similar year that is also a rotary then. can your civic beat an rx7 twin turbo?
i dont mind driving an ED, i just hate drivers who think that because they won the odd illegal street race against an rx8 that their car is top shit.

A rx8 is as slow/slower as a wrx, why waste your money? If you want a rotor buy the real deal, rx7 series8.

Stop the unrealistic comparisons. Watch a best motoring DVD of a RX8 vs whatever....to answer this topic -
RX8 = 6.4ish to 100
So compare that to all other vague statistics on the net.
