I have been tossing around the idea of setting up a dedicated All Motor website so that we can get all the various makes of car together on one site to discuss all things All Motor. On this site I would have a forum, links to rules for both ANDRA and Sport Compact Group classes and links to the various teams web pages etc.

At the moment we have 3 main sites that discuss the All Motor scene. This site, AusRotary and AussieVeeDubbers. Its quite difficult to keep tabs on who is doing what with this current situation so combining them all may give our class a more unified feel. At the moment there is already a great comeraderie among the racers but there is nothing to stop this being taken even further.

So, my question is. Would anyone use the site? Is it just a waste of time? Or does everyone like it the way it is on our own make sites? I'm not saying that All Motor won't be discussed anywhere else. There will still be much Honda based discussion on here for example but general trends in the scene, who is doing what, who ran what etc I envisage being discussed on the All Motor site.

Am I delusional? :p What do you think?

Darren with the current grow going on within this class of racing it would be a very good idea.

Hey Darren..Having an Aussie All Motor web site is a great idea! I have been meaning to put one together for years... I even started documenting on paper what I wanted on it, and the structure of it. I would love to have some input into the web site if you decide to make one. It will only help the All Motor category in regards to popularity and sponsorship which it really needs.

Jason and anyone else. I'd love to get some feedback on what people would like on it, and how they think it should look. I'm going to need some help with the look of the site as I'm no designer and very limited in ability to build the site. So in this regard will accept all the help I can get.

Well since it looks like the idea is a good one, start throwing ideas around. :)

Why is it called all motor when they are powered by internal combustion ENGINES.

Whats your point?

Whats your point?

I think he's misunderstanding the term 'All Motor'. I believe he's interpreting it as "Motors of all types" not as "Naturally Aspirated power - no forced induction" etc.

I'm good with design stuff and forum software etc. Let me know if you need a hand ;)

Don't stress Chuck. It will happen. Its not going to be a 5sec proposition to set up, especially with the level of information I want on it. I want to make it a resource that all those who are serious about All Motor racing can use to view results of meetings, discuss rules, have a section on the cars and drivers, forum, the list goes on.

I'm currently trying to figure out what domain name I'm going to use and where I want to host it because obviously this is going to cost some cash. There are free forum hosts but not sure how good they would be.

BTW, I haven't received any info from anyone about what they would like to see on the site. ;)

I work for one of Australia's largest Webhosting companies, so i can host the website for free and setup free forums, basically anything you need :)

I am quite new to cars as i just brought a EG off my mate from work and i am very enthusiastic about modding it. So if you give me advice on my car i will set the hosting side of things up :)

Have you sought interest on the VW/Rotar sites?

I'll give it some thought and see if I can come up with some ideas. I think things like "In the build" and "upcoming events" would be good places to start. I think make specific sections should be discouraged as it leads to segrigation(sp). Maybe seperate sections for "race" "street" etc. Maybe contact ray box and see if the SCR group could nominate someone to answer questions on the site...

I haven't approached the VW and Rotary guys yet but it is something I will be doing in the very near future. I also agree about the separate make sections. No way. Keep everyone together. Its the only way it will work.

Great idea grumpy rooster! You mentioned it in another post as well

It would be great to see the different brands under the one banner. Cruises would be fun!

I'm reviving this as it has come up again from the rotary guys. I never got around to doing anything with this as I started my business at the same time and had lots of other things happening. But now, one of the rotary guys has set up simple site for us to get started with:

All Motor Site (http://allmotor.angrybeeracing.com/)

It has only been temprarily set up so today so there is nothing much on there but that does not mean it cannot be used. This site is for ALL MOTOR DRAG RACING so make sure we use it for its intended purpose. Discuss, rules, times, the class, where its heading etc etc.

See you over there. :)
