trying to get my car tinted for the comming summer.

since i live in adelaide and don't know much about tinting, not sure where can i bring my car to.

i rang tint a car, they suggested bolle, midnight express and ash cool would look nice on my car, anyone has any experence with them?

also what kind of money would i expect to pay for those films?

any suggested will be great. thanks.

Mine was pretty expensive at a bit over $300 all round from Solartint (for their most expensive tinting film option- can't remember what it's called now but if you serach forums you might find one of my previous posts) but they do offer lifetime guarantee/warranty, I had double-strength on the back, and the guy was quite helpful when I had queries post-installation because my window failed (turns out it was a Honda fault- not the tinting guys).

You can probably get it for <$200 for lower grade material; or if you're willing to DIY install, I've seen tinting film and stuff for sale at Repco. That being said, I don't think it's that easy especially for someone like me who was never any good at DT in school (i.e. woodwork, metalwork, etc..) or any kind of design (i.e. visual arts).

Just go to tint professor or tint a car to get it done. Pay the $250-$300 knowing that it will come out the sweets. I went with tint professor for around $250 at the time. About 25% dark i think. Very happy

tint professor is melbourne only. go to tint a car website and it should show a list of shops in nsw

in Adelaide, try autoperfection too

i wouldn't pay any more than $300 for tinting.

at tint-a-car I think the F1 tint looks nice. it has a more metallic shiny finish than the midnight express which is more like matt black.

bolle has a greenish tinge if i remember correctly... it's also one of the more expensive tints tint-a-car do.

sydney places?

Plenty around. I personally used my local Solartint. There are some who will even come to your house and do it.

yeah they tell everyone it's expensive. the quotes they give you are very much dependent on how they feel on the day.

This is what happened to me when i called a tint a car store asking for F1 tint.
Note that all calls to the stores were speaking to the same person each time

Call 1 - shop 1
quote for a dc5 - $495

Call 2 - shop 1 (2 days later)
Quote for a s15 - 465

Call 3 - shop 1 next day
Quote for a BA falcon - 400
then straight away i asked about coupes cos they have less windows:
Quote for a s15 - 350

Call 4 - shop 2
Quote for a s15 - 300

Call 5 - back to shop 1
wont match shop 2's store price and that i should just go there. then 30 seconds later when i said i would go there they said they'd do it for that price
s15 - 300, but quote for adc5 - 350 because rear window is bigger
then they agreed 300 for the dc5

Maybe if they aren't too far from you, go in and see them in person. After all, it's not just the price which matters, you'd want to make sure the people doing it look decent, their workshop looks clean, etc...

I'm in Adelaide and have gotten my previous car tinted at Complete Windscreen on Main North Road, Prospect. I paid $200 for the darkest (legal) tint available and they provide a lifetime guarantee on their tinting. My whole family has gotten them to tint our cars, they do good jobs and much cheaper than tint-a-car.

They might quote you something higher, but they are quite negotiable so try to get the price down as much as you can :) I’m sure if you said a friend recommended you to them and he paid $200, they'll do the same for you.
