hi guys! after a cheap CF hood, i was told that CF coating my current hood is probably cheapest choice (after appearence rather than weight reduction).
how do i go about it?
what kinda price am i looking at?
is it noticeabley different compared to real CF?
the coating, do they strip back ur bonet too apply this CF coating?
theres also carbon fibre contact that you could use..
problems are it will leave a sticy residue, overtime will crack.

contact would probably look hideous imo. not that same deep look CF has, a coating of it would though?
is CF bonets made in a liquid state or is all of that shit like woven?

its woven carbon basicly, they use resin to make it solid and mould to shape it

I have never heard of this type of CF bonnet.
If the Carbon is to be applied directly to the bonnet then yes they most probably will strip back your bonnet, so that the resin can stick.
Who told you that getting it coated is the cheapest option? perhaps they know where you can get it done.
Of course there is always DIY.....
getting the carbon fibre sheets would be the hard part. even harder to find a piece large enough for a bonnet. ebay US has pieces on there but for a 1 metre squared you'd probably pay about 120 delivered. then theres resin application to consider. then getting the perfectly smooth finish.
if you do end up sourcing all the products and you stuff it up in the process it could cost you coupe of hundred dollars easily + the cost of another bonnet. go the easy way, get a already made carbon bonnet. but if you do source some raw cf in Australia pm the details :)

Don't get sheet and expect it to last without some form of clear-coating, again another $$$$. If your purely after looks and you don't have da dosh, why not just paint your bonnet black?

i was thinking the cf coated came with CF, see again i dont mind spending upto about $300-$400 but i reckon a cent more i could get a second hand CF bonnet

The clear coating on a cf bonnet is a good 0.3cm thick, this gives it the depth and look of a cf bonnet. IMHO, a sheet of cf won't look neally as good, and well for $300-$400 i think it will fall short of your expectations.
