i would say its a matter of common sense...

1.8 vs 1.6 = 1.8 is going to win

the only differences are feeling and what you want, both engines are similar, the b18 is more gruntier and has more torque were the b16 is less grunty but is a little more revvy

if u want a faster car get the 1.8, if u want a nice daily that u can have fun in get the 1.6

as for specs... theres like at least 2 dedicated threads on this and probably 10 more... and yet still more threads like this pop up in noob forum lol search my freind

b16a aus spec = 118kw

or something similar to that

b18c = 127kw

similiar in price these days
wouldnt waste your time on the b18a unless u turbo it
stock eg with a b16a does mid 15's

yeah when i was in a workshop getting body work done to my teg there was a whole pile of lancers in there, i poped my head under the bonnets to have a look and they only had tiny basic sohc 1.6's in them n i was like wtf how pathetic, redlines on the taco wer only like 6krpm... my teg only juss started at 6krpm lol i dont know anything about lancers but they looked pretty poor vs b16a civic... even the sohc vtec 1.6 would prob give em a run for ther money

that sounds like a good deal, remember to check out wer the motror comes from, how it was serviced and how many kms are on it

also make sure if u want p/s and a/c that wether or not it is in the package =)

wish i could get a b16a in my civic =) i miss vtec from my integra so much lol

its impossible its a b18A..thats the engine used in the DA9..the only b18 which has vtec is the b18C used in the 94 DC2...the b18B was the 101KW one used inthe integra GSi..
so obviously the B16A would be a better bet.

LS VTEC is a hybrid right
not too sure but its using a B series DOHC VTEC head and using a non vtec block..

As opposed to a vn commodore that would to 30 sec =P

If you already have an eg5 stick to b16a cause its faster and u dont need to engineer it, or if u dont get a b18c and kill most things on the road... although an Eg with a b16 is going to beat most (stock) turbo cars anyway so its a win win situation

b16a in a eg pulls high 14s down the qtr.

dunno about b16s beating stock turbos, the WRX & s15s do 14s down the qtr.

but a b16 + boost = 12-13s ;) no worries

ok well b16 with i/h/e will... we live in sydney most of the ppl with rexies and s14's (no offence if u drive them) cant drive for shit. when i had my em1 with induction and exhaust unless a rexie had a 6grand start they have no chance and 6pound on a turbo car isnt really alot, but then again who has a turbo car on stock boost these days

I dont think you could beat a wrx with just i/h/e unless your eg had been stripped to the shithouse.

And if it was being driven by a grey haired man (the wrx)

Also a stock wrx dosnt run 6psi its closer to 12psi

If you're going to spend the $ doing swaps, get the B18C. Cause youll be spending the extra $ doing up the B16A. Even though the B18 has only 10kw more on paper. It has a fatter torque range, which would also make the car livlier to drive.

okay i had a b16a in my car stock did 89.9kw AFW its got power but no torque.
so i did a b18c7 type R conversion and i did 135kw AFW thats all internal stock should pump 100 to 110kw AFW its more torque and has power i say b18c7 but if u want turbo b16a go for it. its up to you =].

b16 turbo has about double the torque of a stock b16 and with a 10PSI hit about 150kw atw ;). Got some dyno charts to prove it
