helping my friend installing some oem shocks, and basically we have everything hooked up, once we lower the car or give it some pressure and push it down, the shock would pop right through the upper mounts in the engine bay.....
can anyone explain?? or how i fix this..
we pulled apart and reinstalled it, same shit happened. its all fine on all other 3 sides of the car
he has camber LCA and pretty much stock everything else. Oh and its running lowering springs on stock oem shocks, and we dont have a spring compressor, so basically we just pushing the springs down with force and bolting the top bolt on the upper mount tight with air gun

well personally i duno? ihave tried with 2 different shocks and 2 different upper mounts :(
oh and its the the strut that comes through. the rubber pops out from the upper mounts as well
could it be too much pressure pushing underneth ? and the problem is not in the upper mounts?

i get this feeling you forgot the washers that go on both sides of the pillow ball that go above the upper mount?
i did it once too, the shock shaft goes straight through...

you7 have forgotten to put in the black cup. did you dis-assemble the whole shock? because there should be a black cup that sits inside to prevent the shock from doing this. happened to a friend of us when we were doing his, just chucked it back in and its all good.

dsp26 is right,
There is a flat washer that sits above the bump stop, on the shaft below the top mount rubber.
The hole is large enough for the threaded part of the shaft to fit, but prevents the body of the shaft moving up at the shoulder.
Without it, you'll get the exact problem you're having.

Correct...
If it's assembled per above picture, you should have no issue.
