today i noticed ALOT of heat coming from the rear left side, went to the other side and it was only warm. on closer inspection i find that the RL brake pads are nearly gone bout 3-4mm meat left. but on the RR brake pads, i have heaps of meat left. i only changed the pads roughly mid year 2006. anybody know what would cause this problem, and what action can i take?

Sounds like the brake piston may have siezed. The caliper will have to be rebuilt, take your car to any brake specialist, they should be able to do it in a couple of hours, give them the day to be safe. If you're very handy, you can do it yourself with a brake caliper repair kit to suit your car. Might as well change your brake fluid while you're at it. You should have it looked at very soon as uneven braking like this puts alot of strain on the balance of the car's handling, and can result in tire wear, wheel misalignment and warping of the affected rotor. Warped rotors cannot be machined and must be replaced. Hope that helps. Good luck

Brake caliper repair kits are quite cheap for generic brands, looking around $50 for a kit that repairs a pair of brakes, should be able to pick them up off any brake specialist. I'm not sure if you can get OEM ones, best way is to contact Honda spares and ask them for the rear seal kits for your car model. All the kit really consists of are dust boots, ring seals, rubber grease and brake grease. I've only ever used generic brand seal kits to rebuild Skyline calipers on my 180sx. The whole labour behind the rebuild is what frees the siezed caliper. Will you be rebuilding the caliper(s) yourself?

ascension disc rotors can be machined. could also be the the caliper slides have seized. in which case all you need to do is unbolt the caliper and check them for movement. if theres no movement then theyll need to be unseized and greased

^^ Yes correct disc rotors can be machined for uneven wear and corrosion, however machining will not fix warping. Once a disc rotor is warped, it's ready for the bin.
