Depends on your audio requirement..... to some, it will sound decent, to some its a POS..... to me, POS....
Try go for a single 12 from a sub/speaker/audio company... JL, Image Dynamics, Adire, etc
i'm not running competition gear, just splits off the standard HU and want a little more bass.
i'm after a deep bass, not a punchy sound, hate that gayass punchy sound..
are these:subwoofer pioneer subs two 10 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=VBWXh4aygMA)
these: 10" x 2 (TSW 255c Pioneer Subwoofer)

Go to the shops and ask them to let you test various subs... then compare and get which one you like.
i doubt the shops will have the subs above. very old school subs..

generally if ur just after some more bass then yea by all means just get them , just make sure u give it the right amont of power and make sure the box is designed for them subs =]
tron is refering to u go to shops and test out new subs and see how u like them, but if u can get these pioneers cheap and of ur not fussed about quality then by all means go nuts
i just remember having 2 12" pioneer subs, i believe that were the cheapest around $40 for the sub itself and they were the worst subs ever..
i'm not just looking for more bass, i want decent bass. hopefully these do the trick. would $80 be cheap?

ah ok
well what i suggest you do is find out some specs about them old subs, most of the time the reason bass dosnt sound good is because of the enclosure that they are placed in. sealed or ported it just dosnt matter it just needs to be the correct dimentions and size for the sub to operate at its best and the amp you will run it off.
do u have an amp to run this sub/s?
i guess it's a matter of simply hearing them go.
yea i have a Rockford 201s, hoping it can power the pair of subs.

hard bass = 10" = good for music with hard high frequency bass
good overall =12" = good overall freguency bass
low/soft bass = 15" = good for deep and low bass (but i find laggy at times)
what power output of an amp would i need to run 200w 40rms splits?

that rockford amp u have should be fine, just reading the specs and when bridged should be enough to run them coz it makes 200WRMS @ 4ohm bridged, ill presume the pioneers are about 300RMS each, its just enough to run them.
do you know what voice coils the pioneers have (single or dual voice coil?)
to run the splits i suggest something like an entry level alpine Vpower amplifer MRP-F300 http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product.asp?modelID=377
this will be enough to run the splits.
u have a specifc budget u wanna work with?

depends on the price you pay.... there are (or maybe was(no longer in production)) some very expensive 15" that sounds nicer then most 12"
don't have a clue if it's single or dual.
to be honest i have 3 amps lying at home, 600w 4 ch, 400w 4 ch & 120w 2 ch. the 600 and 400 are massive, where as the 120w is nice and small. would prefer to use that. it's a sentrek spa-255d. it's probably a p.o.s but would it do the trick?

if its 120w x 2 @ 4 ohm, bridging them should provide you with 480w for you sub.
mm cool. so that's how it works. never knew the sentrek could make decent power.

sometimes cheapo stuffs market their stuffs at 2ohm.... so it could well be
120w x 2 @ 2 ohm
60w x 2 @ 4 ohm
then bridged at 4 ohm you will only get 240w
well i can't really find much info on the amp. it's old and sentrek is gone.
guess we'll have to wait and see.
what gauge power cables should i be using for the rockford 201s?
would i be safe with 8 gauge?

you mean power cable from batt to amp/s? 8awg should be sufficient, going lower wont hurt.
if you're talkin about wiring between amp and sub/s then 12 awg is enough
id use one of your multi-chan amps for speaker duties. you've got em so why not.
would 10awg be pushing it to run power from the battery to the amp?

id need alot more details about your system before i give a definite answer, but id say yes you'd be pushing it and possibly limiting your system.
stick to 8 or better
