can you please create a list of the oils and which category (group 3,4 or 5) for us noobs so we can relate to when purchasing?

As much as I want to, the oil companies rarely display the type of base stock they are using and it's usually a mix.
But as a general rule, unless specified on the bottle, the cheaper synthetics Shell Helix Ultra/Castrol Titanium etc are group 3, even then there's rare exceptions depend on oil weight, for example, 0w40 synthetic oils normally require a good portion of group 4 or 5 in the mix to reach that grade.
So it's really complex sadly. But whenever a brand actually displays their base stock as group 4 &5 (Redline/Amsoil/Mutol/Penrite), we jump on it if its a good price.
Damn, was hoping for some 10w30, which seems rare in Aus for some reason.
For older engines. At least that's what the manual suggest. 5w30 also works, but they recommend it for 25° down.
Is "Racing" oil alright for everyday run around cars (like our Euros)?
Is it too late for this?
too late for what?
if you are referring to using race oils. it is never too late.
For the deal! haha
or is it a permanent thing?
edit: oh it's around $142.. so i can still get it!
