turning it into a full track car?
where can we get roll cages for ep3? are there ones already made to suit ep3 or have to get custom one done...
pretty determined to turn my ep3 into a track car yet still want it to be road registered
try password jdm website they might give you some products that could be rollcages, horsepowerfreaks generally most american sites/dealers will have stuff for the ep3 - main brand i think may be ultra racing bars
Are these the Honda oem ones?
Aftermarket ones are crap. I got them and regretted and got some Honda ones in the end.
Think so.

Hey guys,
Just got an alpine cda 117e head unit. However, I need a new din pocket because the one it came with is the wrong size and has been installed dodgely and forced in.
I went to strathfield radio and they had no din pockets for hondas. Any advice on where I could find one to sit in flush?
hey gavin gave me one when i bought it but ive never used mine since i bought a double din do you wanna give it a go?
just got around to measuring it its 6cm
same here. mine's 5.2cm.

same one from img? maybe mines off cause its still in the packaging.
oh! and don't you hate it when your car's headlights are like this?

tried resizing but the photo just wont get smaller.
white normal headlights and yellow lows. very un-appealing
oh! and george...found these:

$200+ sound about right?
guess what guys, a complete tool hit me yesterday in his Mitsubishi verada...I swear my car is like a magnet for accidents. He crossed double lines from a petrol shed without looking and even though i braked and tooted my horn he continued across the lanes directly into me.....front right fender is dented and bumper AND mugen lip scratched...NOT FK%%NN happy!.
test fitted my new wheels today: BBS mesh 16x7.5 +24, 205/55/16

Hey Guys,
I Am chasing some Hood Dampeners for my car, anyone kno where I would be able to pick some up???
Cheers
Yes i feel you man, got hit and run 3months ago my rear lip and bumper coped scratches some of it deep. Still need to get it resprayed after trackday. A week ago i was turning at sackville intersection at canley, yellow light its going to turn red one person in a beetle looked like they were slowed down to a stop so i turned seems i was wrong ****nugget just keep going and nearly ran into me just barely, i nearly swerved into the island..
@rps.13
would 17x8 or 8.5 be too wide? cause ive tried 8.5 on the front and it didnt look as wide as that.

i dont think a 8 or 8.5 would be too wide... what was the offset on your 8.5's? I was going to try fit up some 17x9's in a +30, but I ran out of time, maybe next week.
I think the bbs look wide due to the tyre. the rims were listed on ebay as a 8" but on the stamp inside the wheel is says 7 1/2", i'll have to measure them to confirm.
would have to get the gaurds rolled if lowered?
Looks like mine but your one looks like it had been cut to make it fit. A typical thing which installers do sadly.
Even the guys at strathfield radio advised me to cut/buy tape from bunnings/force in.......which isn't professional at all.
So I'm gonna try find one that sit flush as is without diy ghetto tinkering around.
man I'm surprised no one is interested in my Mugen radiator duct, so what I might do I'll prob make replicas of it (like the american replica one with no scoop) and make some profit lol
Yea man, some people are just stupid. It's mainly the inconvenience since our cars are imports chances are for bits like fenders it's gonna be off the road for 1 month atleast. I think there is a fender for sale in melbourne off that red ep3 that was a write-off...I'll tell my panel beater about it.
yeah its hard to find parts and theres a slight chance you can go to a honda dealer and get them to call up headoffice to see if they can get it in for you from jdmland.
out of curiosity...in regards to the gruppe m intake...any issues with being under powered with stock exhaust?
and how much lighter is the carbon fibre bonnet compared to stock? = /
its way lighter than oem, as for underpowered i dont know should of dynoed it before and i guess its just noise factor. only thing ive heard from the guys is that our headers is the weak link becuase it restricts alot of air flow.
For sure it is lighter.....but you can probably reduce the same amount of weight by going to the gym provided that you're not underweight to begin with.
I used to be fond of saving weight but I'm over it. I find the effect of saving weight is negligible unless drivers start stripping off a significant number of items. For circuit/racing use AND provided that the driver has sufficient skills , every grams counts. Street use, on the other hand, I think it's a placebo effect for a driver to say they feel the difference.
correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the carbon fibre bonnets a defect now since the end of the financial year?
ROFL! i reckon i can shave 5KG off the car then! prolly more than changing the bonnet. lol.
now...i'm thinking of changing to spoon n1 exhaust and piping first, but i'm thinking maybe gruppe m intake instead.
just worried about whether or not there's gonna be any "underpowered-ness"
spoon n1 exhaust coz i wanna wake everyone in the suburb up when i come home at 3am in the morning vtec-ing 1st n 2nd in my street lol.
oh whos the hoon king now!! when you do get the spoon let me hear it too.
not sure about gruppe m but when i got my Fujita CAI, i felt i lost a little bit low end. but once i fitted cat back, it gains more than what was lost.
the stock air box is really heavy and i'm sure gruppe m is a lot lighter.
I'm not sure if this would be the same with a gruppem on a ep3.
However, I changed to gruppem intake on my Jazz before doing catback and no loss could be felt. Some gains between mid and top. Overall it was the most satisfying mod I've done.
In terms of noise, the intake sounded better than when I changed the exhaust (spoon bpipe + j's racing 50RS). Not loud while driving normal but sounds great on WOT and for tunnel runs.
I found after installing gruppe m the change in pedal response aswell as the noise when u hit vtec. The stock intake I personally reckon is very restrictive. I did get dyno b4 n after that were done at toda but problem was that they were done on different days. The difference was 13kw at wheels but as they say, different day different dyno figures.

Good luck with your eyes with the spoon n1. Especially if u need to upgrade your engine mounts with something more solid than stock.....
"illest" thats for sure, im suprised the airbag didnt go off
MORE DAMNNNNN

Oem engine mounts are a weak point on our cars and many ppl ungrade to a harder mounts to improve performance and durability. With that comes with more noise and vibration.
While the vibration is noticeable when the car is standing still, the noise is getting worse as u rev. With my spoon street muffler, it's quite noisy approaching vtec and beyond, I can't imagine how noisy it will be with a N1.
However if u are hardcore or will keep stock mount them no problem.
x2
As Phil said, it depends how hardcore you are. If you are planning to go to the dragstrip, or monthly circuit usage then stiffer engine mounts are recommended.
If purely for street use/infrequent standstill launches then I won't worry about mounts until they are broken.
If I remember correctly, the N1 is like 110db. If that's not loud, there it may entail severe hearing damage has already been done. I knew of a friend who lived with spoon bpipe + spoon n1 as a daily on a Jazz and that was crazily loud which he may as well have a straight pipe. So good luck on those getting spoon n1 as phil said.
Hey Phil, I'm not sure if I asked you this before but how much did the spoon street cost you and do you have any photos? I've seen spoon street on dc2 and ek's but not on ep3.
ahhh....i see. well....should be fine as it's gonna be mainly street use. Rare occasional track fun, but mainly street use.
apparently the N1 is louder with the B-series engines and quieter with the K-series and 110db sounds a bit too loud for stationary reading on a K-series engine.
what I like in the stock exhaust is the twin pipes for some reason Im not a fan of the single big pipe..
once I do my exhaust i hope to keep the twins..
How about putting a set of headers onto oem piping would it work??
you'd assume it would but upgrading the exhaust still produces more power but I'm hoping once i do that I can still get the same flow with the twin pipes as I would with the one large pipe.. Mugen so far looks the best according to reviews but it's so dam $$$$$$ BTW I'm still new to all this car talk I hope Im making sense..
has any1 tested which Intake is better Mugen or Gruppe M? both are around the same $$$
read about it on some website and apparently the Gruppe M is better.
There's also mention of the Tegiwa intake which is replicate of Gruppe M but not as good and you have to make your own scuttle.
here's a site comparing the mugen and gruppe m for the ep3:
http://clubitr.com.au/forums/showthread.php?p=157983
Yea it would work but just lose some bottom end in exchange for topend.
On the long run, I'll suggest that you should do catback + ecu tune to utilize the full potential of the I/H/E.
So if you're short on budget, you can do ecu after I/H/E.
I haven't tested them. However, I'd say the gruppem will give better gain than mugen. I'm basing this on the way the two gets air.
Mugen breathes air behind the radiator area which is no different to OEM air box. The only difference is that the OEM snorkel gets air at a perpendicular angle at the direction the car is moving. Mugen's snorkel is not perpendicular and hence the air doesn't need turn 90degrees to get into the snorkel. Therefore mugen is a little bit improved over oem.
Gruppem is a scoop drawing external air hence the gruppem avoids hot air dissipated by the radiator and not vulnerable to heatsoak. However, the airbox is vulnerable to fatal pranks. If someone has grudge against you, they can potentially flush a crap load of water/garbage into your scoop.
Since the gruppe m is a scoop on the bonnet wouldn't water get into the filter hence the engine? Is it save to drive with it when its raining?

lol...it's hard..i don't see her often and you know how u go all gluggish and empty minded when a girl's around?
Smile...hard to say as well...she kinda gives everyone the same smile lol. Haven't exactly seen a diff smile round her.
she's asian so i kinda know how she thinks in a way...but a girl's mind is like the universe. infinite.
YEA STEVE!!! i'll take a look at your gruppe m too!!! *hides screwdriver behind back*
well the whole intake cf piece is pretty fat and theres a drainage hole at the bottom so if water goes in still goes out you know its a hole approx 1cm diameter, plus the intake isnt directly underneath the scoop nor is it right at the bottom touching the cf cover, thus all good in anyweather just dont go putting the hose down the scoop gonna put ya k20 into limp mode. ive driven in heavy rain before never got hydrolocked and shit like that.
flubbar you can never know what shes thinking man its impossible! i find it awkward talking to a girl i barely see, rathger than the ones you see daily
too many cute asians at unsw bro even the import girls.
Lol...course I know her name! Known her for about 4 years now. I try to talk to her on msn as much I can.
But of course there's this other girl I'm interested in. Too bad I don't know her name. Wouldn't mind knowing, we make eye contact everytime she gets on the train rofl, but she's doing her hsc. *sigh*
Dw Steve....I won't do any external damage to it just yet.
And yea.. Way too many cute Asian girls at unsw.
