personally. i would never go 10,000km between oil changes, regardless of the type of oil being used. Sure, many would consider it over servicing, but it is cheap preventative maintenance. For me it is oil change & filter every 5,000km. If you use genuine Honda FEO Oil, Filter & washer its $48 bucks & a few minutes of your time.

They didn't change the oil at 1000km on our CU2. I thought it was at 10,000km too. Might change to some fully synthetic at 5,000km though (is fully synthetic ok for such a young engine?)Quote:

I suspect break in oils are a thing of the past or are only used on specific cars. My Integra Typre R '01 (DC2) had break in oil when I bought it. The oil was extremely thin compared to normal oil and an oil change was scheduled for and performed at 1000km.
I asked the dealer if my new CU2 had break-in oil and after checking with the service manager he said no. This was confirmed when i changed the oil to full synthetic the other day. The original oil had normal viscosity.
My old CL9 was 1000kms too. But that oil was just a cheap mineral I believe with little protection, hence the short lifespan. Viscosity has nothing to do with it.Quote:
