Nice nice.
That's Kool!!
No Brett! You are Kool!
Not a shame Mike, it's tough these days online. I have hardly any time as it is, let alone to waste on "social networking". Plus reading all the spam emails associated with same. I didn't even mention yet I don't own a TV.
OzHonda is social networking for me!
Honda. Uniting nationalities.
It's cool seeing where you guys are all from! I was born here, grew up here, live here. Literally it's 15 minutes to the hospital where I was born from where I live. Haha.
i was born in the strange land of...
Western Sydney!
I lived in Penrith for 18 months! We could be, like, best mates yo!
Liverpool reppin'
Yep went to a few different pubs there at the time. There was a local band from around that area... The Karpis Cronies. Seems they are disbanded now. I used to follow them around and jammed a few times with them on stage. Man that was the good times. They would always come out to the Great Western Bar in Penrith on Wednesday nights, they had a jam night where you could rock up and play.
My best was singing and playing bass with the house band, "I Will Survive" by Cake. Damn I miss those days. $6 jugs!
no way i play drums and bass!
And I play bass! Holy smokes! Ozhonda jam!!
My main instrument is guitar, I believe I forgot to mention. I think we may have some tunes coming up. :D
But it's been a few years now, no doubt I'll be a bit rusty (not to mention the strings would be a bit rusty also). Also, I can sing... but you probably wouldn't want to hear it.
gchonda band biatches!
I lived there for 10 years! LOL
I fitted some Ultra racing fender braces.
They are GREAT,very stoked with em'
Can hook dem' corners hard now :)
Thanks Timmy for the recommendation mate!
A product I couldn't recommend more is Liqiud Moly's 'Low friction Oil treatment'
And the best part is,it will pay for itself cause the engine has to work less = lessrpm/effort.
Nice one mate! I'll come over and we'll swap cars so u can feel the new sussy on mine and I can try out ur new setup.
No new plans for the em1, apart from saving up for some good, used red recaros (they must be red). I'm in desperate need of more supportive seats, especially for when I hit the track.
Insurance is up for renewal in 30 days. Premium is up ($854 - WTF?) and value has gone down. They wanna give me a value of 7,500 for the EM1, can u believe that? I gotta weigh up my options. If my car is written off or stolen, I stand to lose some serious money. Dammit, I'm gonna get onto it now.
Insurance are pricks and scammers
Cool cool sounds interesting Brett. You've got these now and noticed an improvement? :thumbsup:Quote:

Just a quick question for you all. I may have found a cheap set of coilovers for my car. They are used but do not have any info on the mileage they have done already, I am assured they are in good condition and no leaks. What I am wondering is the fronts are Tein brand and the rears are KYB brand, like matched pairs to make the kit or something. Any particular reason why this would not be recommended? I should think it would be alright but want some opinions.
What else would I need for the car, I keep reading about control arm kits and stuff. Do I need these now or can I get them later? Do I need them at all?
For sway bars I have been looking around, my car already has front and rear lower sway bars (I'm guessing from standard) so thinking about saving for upper bars as well?
At the end of the day just looking to improve handling, if I can lower it some as well then that's a secondary benefit.
Thanks guys.
ultra racing is definatly what im getting! the full kit
Answer my question.
KYB what and TEIN what? Find out the name of the models. And then find the spring rates/damper settings. Do your research man to see if they can be matched well.
What do you mean control arm kits? You mean camber kit? It's only advisable if your dropping it more than 2".
As far as sway bars go. Find a thicker Rear sway bar. That'll improve ur handling performance the most as a start. Get upper bars later. Strut bar should be the 1st one for upper braces.
the more reinforcement the better
but remember more bars = more weight
If I was worried about weight, I'd be skinny like Tim. :D
Whatever sense you can make from this. I am waiting to hear from him.

the front are tein HA with cusco adj camber top, rear a kyb, made from alloy, so lighter, both are coilovers. coilover in gd cond, no leak at all
Thanks Mike, have asked those details for clarification.
So for the rear sway bar, you mean lower right? A thicker one will improve handling?
And for strut bar 1st for upper braces, you mean the front strut bar that goes like over the engine or thereabouts? I wouldn't mind one of these, they look cool. (I mean, I want the handling improvements, ahem)
Troy, a larger diameter rear sway bar will drastically improve handling. It will eradicate understeer to a large extent. Basically, the best way I can explain it is when you go into a corner with some speed, the rear of the car will effectively 'push' the front of the car around the corner. It kinda feels like the car is on a pivot, the front just goes where you point it, and it feels like the rear of the car is pushing you through the corner. Now couple that with a lower centre of gravity, aswell as a firmer shock setup (coilovers) and you will also negate alot of the body roll that you feel when taking a corner quickly.
Strut bars (the cool looking bars that go across the engine) will not do much on their own. They are the finishing piece in the suspension set up.
Get yourself a larger rear sway bar to begin with (and those coilovers if you can sus them out and get them for the right price) and you will never want to get out of your car. It will transform it 100%.
But yeah, you won't believe the difference a larger rear sway bar will make.
Haha awesome, I wub you all.
So Alex, you put those coilovers in yet?
I know I'm obsessed with my car. Here is one more slammin pic:
And the rear underside: It needs to be cleaned :( http://i51.tinypic.com/2w69npg.jpg
talked to insurance: 920 premium and agreed value of $10K. They will insure the recaros when I get em too.
HEY GUYS!
LOOK!
SEXY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN TOUCHING EACH OTHER!
Did not click. I am ashamed at you.
click!
Always wanted to do a Nebo run, never done it. Might be in for this.
I clicked!
And I'm with Troy. Never been up/down Nebo before, so if we can get some interest I'm keen!
strange you mentioned that, I'm taking my wife there tomorrow for long weekend Monday drive.
Delay until Saturday night. So what to do tomorrow then? Easy, just like you always seem to miss out on the other cruises... sleep in.
so reply to nebo thread preez?
OK brakes are just slightly starting to shudder on heavy stopping, time for another brake service. Last time I was told the discs will be too thin to skim again. So I am looking for new discs and pads.
I have been researching pads and like the looks of EBC Greenstuff Premium 2000. Need to get some quotes up though, then need to look up some good discs. Want to get some with proper venting this time.
What do you guys use?
best from australia would have to be DBA4000 Series slotted rotors. really good build quality, great performance to!
How many people here own dogs?
I don't 'own' Woody but certainly give him lots of Love as he gives me! :)
Should be going racing at QR on friday for a practice day if anyone is keen.
man, I'm keen. I'm not prepped for racing yet, but I will certainly come to QR, I have the day off :)
Woody FTW. Great dog.

Hey Mikey:wave:
Yeah just too busy eh. Work and family take up all my time.
Tim!!!!
OK he is chasing me about these now, he's dropped to my price range but I already am gonna have to fork out for rotors and pads very soon... What do you guys think now?

Fronts are Tein HA and rears are Cusco Vacanza (not KYB).
lol screw rotors and pads, you won't need to slow down with cornering ability you'll have with these bad boys. Unless it's a stop sign or red light... or a car park.
For $300 they look like a good deal, but can you save enough money in time to get new pads and rotors? Or can you drive conservatively enough?
Oh man, I haven't been on this forum in 3 years and this thread is still going lol
haha Thanks man!
Seductive!
I saw the name and was like 'Who dat?' hehehe
Still got the accord euro like it says there? :)
I would hold out Troy, those coils look a bit how ya goin...
No worries will leave them then. He dropped the price pretty easily too. Plus he is newcomer (can't make a for sale thread) and is refusing to at least make an ebay auction, and demanding direct deposit only. Doesn't leave me anything to cover my own hairy bottom in case of a sale gone wrong.
On the positive side, I am looking at ordering brakes soon. :)
On the negative side, it will cost me lots. $$$ Someone donate for a good cause? :D Also clutch seems to have a leak somewhere. Suddenly felt different the other day and when I checked the reservoir it was empty, I could still see the fluid in the line, just none in the reservoir. So I topped it up again, pumped it a bit but it's still doing weird things. Need to get it checked out and leak fixed properly, then probably new clutch fluid properly bled.
Ah well, it goes with having an old model car I guess.
Hey Troy. I'm gonna do front brakes soon. I've found that you can buy RDA rotors from ebay for about 120 a pair. Pads wize, I just go Bendix. Nice 'n cheap. Unless your setup is really hardcore, it's all you need.
Unfortunately it seems your car is in the twightlight of its life it seems. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to it. Do you know what I mean? After a certain mileage/age a car becomes a major liability.
get a euro!
These are mine tomorrow. With EK9 passenger rail and low driver's rail. (I'm 6 foot, so it helps :)

Niiiiiice pickup! What did you get them for?
1.2k all up.
That's a good price!
They'll look great once you clean em up a bit, bolsters look great.
What?
I know exactly what you mean, but sadly I am not in a position financially to do anything about it right now.
Just need to make my break with work and start getting a more fitting salary for the work I do. Definitely should happen within the next two years I reckon.
I've got the sr3s! So far I've just put in one. Gotta get onto insurance and engineering just to be safe, then I'll chuck in the other one.

Warning if you want sr3s, they are tight in the hip area. I have a size 32 waist and it's ok, but a bit tight. Turning around when reversing is a bit of a bitch. With the low driver's rail, I have an extra 10 or so cm between me and the roof (head used to nearly touch the roof in the stock seats).
As uncompromising as they are, I like the fact that now I'm low to the floor and feel spot on in touch with the handling.
That's looks awesome!! And yup they're bloody tight, but feels so good!
don't think i'd fit in sr3s. :(
Maybe not me either... hmmm. But I do want to sit lower. When I sit in my Accord the right side of my hair is hitting the roof and the left side isn't because that's where the sunroof gap is. So I kind of slouch a bit which is uncomfy. Maybe if I just shaved it completely off...
I meant my hair.
I remember looking at this thread quite some time ago, big things have happened with your car Beeza!
Its looking good, and it is forcing me to consider getting off my ass and getting more done to my little EK hatch.
It looks like you guys in Brissy have a good little group coming together, i'd like to see something more like that in Sydney.
Keep it up!
