OBD1, OBD2, which hondata to order?

I was considering that, but I don't know if i want to be stuck with a neptune dealer. Chasers motorworks here in Melbourne are offering me MoTeC M4 supplied, wired in and full tune for $3200. Seems like a pretty good deal to me! Good thing is the tuner (Paul) is a mechanical engineer and began his career as an engineer with MoTeC... so can't be a bad thing. If I bail out then i'll just go with an OBD1 S300 for about 1300+ tuning (2k all up roughly)

Cant go wrong with S300. We switched from hondata S200 to Vipec V44 plug and play and there was quite a difference. WOT is very similar, part throttle its a whole different story.

As stated earlier, the car is OBD1 with a jumper harness to run the PFC. So getting an OBD1 S300 is what you're after.

OK. barefootbonzai, I thought the b18cr is OBD2B. The car is OBD1.

Is that on the ITB equipped B20? Part throttle has improved a lot since my earlier tunes, but it could still do with a little bit or work.

My main gripe at the moment is fuel consumption, and really most of these ECUs are probably capable of delivering good fuel economy, but it's just finding a tuner who understands the set up and how to tune the ECU accordingly...

get an OBD1 S300 is what you're after. be much easier and less hassle

Neptune supplied and tuned will be about half the cost of the Motec. And it will give you a good result with Andy tuning. He has tuned a number of quads setups.

Yeap B20 with ITB's. Fuel consumption will depend on partial throttle. 02 sensor still in there?

o2 sensor is still in place. Next Wednesday the car is going in to chasers motorworks for installation and tuning of MoTeC m400. After much research I decided I didn't want a hacked ECU, and that I want something capable of advanced data logging for trackwork, which motec is renowned for. We'll be having one map for street focusing on economy and one map with race exhaust focusing on power and response. Paul worked as an engineer with Motec for almost 10 years and has many years experience tuning race cars in Asia and road cars here. Recently he tuned a b18c running to near 10,000rpm...

It will be interesting to see what he can do with it.
