I know my mate had this problem with his honda city and he is the same... will not use anything but PULP. Our trade school teacher said the timing needed to be advanced if running the higher octane fuel or it would ping.
Im pretty sure that advancing it a few degrees helped it quiet a bit.
I could be wrong.. someone correct me if i am. Just what i can recall from my trade school teacher and my mates conversation.
