I have found an 2008 manual silver accord euro (new shape) in silver, which is an ex-demo with 6000km on the clock for 32k drive away. Is this a good deal? what price were people able to bargain the new cars down to? I also got a good price for my trade in.

That is virtually New Price for a demo. With 6,000km i would expect you would pay around 30K maximum.

Any car 08 build and complianced bargain HARD,HA are keen to shift them.Technically they are 1 year old now.If you want a 09 build AND complianced then you're not in such a good bargaining position.either way call in to 3 honda dealers(with trade if you have 1)tell them you're ready to buy now for the right changeover figure.When they ask you how much pick a figure bordering on the ridiculous.Ask for their best price.Wait a few days then call the other 2 dealers that gave you the 2nd.and 3rd.best price and tell them the changeover price of the dealer gave you the best price.Then sit back and wait.You should start to get phone calls within a few days.Play them off against one another.You can do this for as long as you want but be carefull that you don't piss them off too much.At all times during the negotiation let them all know you will buy NOW at the right price.Doing the above 2 times should be enough to get you a reasonably good deal.If you can sell your car privately even better,that places you in a really good position to bargain hard.As a rough guide if you can get the car drive away for the advertised price NOT including on roads you're doing well.Lastly when you shake hands and agree on a price be prepared to sign a contract and leave a reasonable deposit.Have fun!!!Quote:

Yeah, work out what you want, for how much you want first. Very important.
Stuff like 12 month rego instead of 6. They are doing free 12 month rego, CTP, and 5 year warranty now on them anyway.
Get stuff like boot liner and carpet mats thrown in for free. You said you wanted rear parking sensors. Make sure you get them thrown in for free too. On the accessories list, these are about $600 fitted.
Now for bargaining, write all this down. I do the call around first, and see who wants to play. When you go in to the dealers, hand them your list and credit card for deposit. Be prepared to walk if you don't get what you want.
If you got a trade in, you're going to get screwed.......
Just FYI I signed the contract on an Accord Euro Lux on Tuesday this week for $40k with trade in on a 98 Camry.
Don't know if this is the absoloute "best" price I could have got, but, first time buying a new car and having to go through this so I'm hoping I did alright.
Pick it up next week :)
Initially it's best to negotiate price on a car with NO accessories as the accessories have huge markup.when you're getting down to the nitty gritty then you can start on throwing in accessories to sweeten the deal.

you live in sydney, so play dealer against dealer and never take first offer, think about second offer but try for better.

All paint protection is a total waste of money, a sales gimmick. Nothing is as good elbow grease and meguiars.
Personal opinion i would take the silver option, but we all have different tastes. My Uncle got a Silver 1 on my advice, and they look quite nice, unfortunately for him he sold it after 6 weeks because it was TOO SMALL. Silly Senile Old Idiot.....lol. That's the one i told you you could get for a good price with 1500km on the clock.

Like you Denot i am not a great fan of Silver, if I was I would not have hesitated buying the second hand 1 I mentioned as I know it's history, the owner & have Driven it.
To me the problem is we only have 6 options when it comes to exterior colour & individual choices are as different as each individual personality. Speaking just for myself I automatically eliminate 3 of the 6 colours, that being Red, Black & Volcano Grey.
My order of preference is Pearl White, Silver, Blue as i feel these are more suitable with a black interior & they will hold age better than the other colours, & POSSIBLY have a better resale value, but we all think differently. The car is the same under the exterior colour, so no matter what you choose you will have a great car.

NXT gen liquid wax is a good sealant from Meg's, but there is better out there. I am using poli-seal on opti-seal over the top. Zaino is ment to be one of the best, as well as Klasse. Just prep the paint properly - clay - paint cleaner - and apply your sealant. It bonds to the paint and will last months. It is the best thing you can possibly do for that glossy wet look.

I didn't go with the paint protection.
I've been told that paint protection can make colour matching a problem, if god forbid someone hits you.
Colour is such a subjective thing, personally I love the Black and don't mind the extra work to keep it clean, I have been washing mine at least every second week, comes up like new with a bit of elbow work on the chamois.
Silver can be a bit of a bore but the Silver on the Euro is a really effective shade, I think it looks classy and it probably would have been my second choice.

-In the specs it says the standard model has halogen but when I looked at the car they look projected...?
One thing that annoys me is the boot space the full size alloy takes up, this should be an option instead imo.

Its crap, its merely a low end sealant bought in bulk, applied without the proper prep and the guarantee for a lifetime is a joke, read the fine print where it says it must be re-applied at YOUR expense. The sealant certainly does not last the specified time and in fact leaving it so long will actually in the long term cause more harm than good. Most of my detailing products come from Germany or the States and I am yet to see a sealant work without fault for over 6 months unless the car sits in the garage and does not venture outside in the elements...
By the time you go and buy decent detailing stuff, not Meguiars...sorry gys not a fan, you can spend half the amount, and have a better looking car with paint in a better condition.
The dealers are banking on the fact that the smallest percentage of people actually keep their cars for a "lifetime"...

As a side note, there is only a need to clay bar when the paint is rough, there is no need to do it all the time. A decent sealant, will assist in lengthening the time between clay barring. If you also own a dark coloured car it will always be hard to reduce swirls, however, improper polishing and waxing by hand can actually speed up this process, especially if people use "old towels" for polishing and wax removal thus marring the paint surface.

Hey guys..........we just bought a black-09 spec lux manual for $42K incl GST drive away.
can't wait to pick it up early March.
Car didn't feel as fast or handled as well as the VW tiguan but for options and comfort the CU came out tops.
Could i get some opinions please. I have just rang Waxit.com.au to seek recommendations. I do not use a Buffing Machine, everything is done by hand. Their recomendation is:-
Step 1 - Clay Bar
Step 2 - Pinnicle Swirl Remover
step 3 - Duragloss Polish Bonding Agent #601
step 4 - Duragloss CCP #111 Sealant
The last 3 steps need to be repeated every 3 to 5 months. Clay Bar every 12 to 18 months.
I have been using Meguiars for many years, but it seems that it is not the best way to go these days.

Got quoted $43,888 for an 08 build Auto Lux in black - this price seems rather dissappointing after getting quoted $34,161 for the standard Auto.
I know Honda has heaps of 08 plated Euros but I don't think they want to get me in to a Luxury Euro at the price they've quoted. Also, I beleive they're extending their Honda sale on selected 08 plated vehicles. Probably to combat Mazda since they have a similar deal on at the moment.
That seems a bit steep given what you were quoted on the standard auto. There is only $8,000 difference in the ticket price and maybe a few more dollars for stamp duty, but $9,700?
Have you thought about trying some Sydney dealers, It would be a nice first run back to Canberra.
I might have to Sludge, it's got me second guessing if I should even get a Euro now....going to take a look at the Mazda 6 and VW Jetta 147TSI.

Mazda 6 is huge inside.......but even the top end one has crap interior and is heaps more $$$ than the euro lux.
