yeah that is what im thinking.
Seems like they are back for sale again... Looking to get a set of bolt grips, and bundle it together with my order.
Done the 10k service with Redline oil change a week ago..
The engine runs a lot smoother and I'm now getting 850k from a full tank 98 fuel..
Definitely worth the extra penny...
Just did my 40,000km service with Redline oil. Definitely smoother and quieter than Motul 8100, but it didn't get rid of the vibration in the gas pedal at low revs like I had hoped. I guess I'll have to live with that because a full gearbox flush with Redline D4 didn't help with it either. Still a noticeable difference but I don't know if I'd pay the regular aus price.
anyone bought any more oil via amazon?
shipping is still around 8 dollars!
wierdly, its only on the 5w-30. got a second car that needs 10w-40 but shipping is $66 for that.
Yeah, it's a shipping error on the 5w30. Even the D4 is charging $66.
if only i could use the same 5w-30 in the other car. save me a pretty penny in shipping :D
having said that, it is still cheaper to buy from amazon then from the sharks here down under.
Mines running redline now.
Looovvvviiinnngg it
Holy crap this is cheap, just ordered the 12 pack for $139.94 AUD delivered! :O
What's a good oil filter to go with this?
Im using these filters because they are made in the usa. i found out the honda filters are made in thailand but with the japanese price tag, i decided enough is enough and ill just use some quality one instead.
I got the K&N pro series for my last service. Works out really cheap if you order a few of them.
You can still find japanese oem filters around rather than settle for thailand ones
^ That k&n above is good price for aussie seller
Anyone else get this when tracking their parcel from Amazon?

I guess it just means it'll be delayed a while :secret:
Thanks guys, not in any hurry so all good!
Just thinking, how does Royal Purple compare to Redline?
Hmmm, from memory, Group 4 was better suited for Racing was it?
other way around, group5 is more race oriented like Motul

this is a bit advertising but good info nonetheless

I'm thinking of trying Royal Purple next. Redline didn't make my engine as smooth as I'd hoped and it already feels like it's breaking down after about 1,000kms. If Royal Purple isn't any better I'll have to accept Redline is as good as it's gonna get.
Just bought some...hope it will be good.
lucky you. i waited like almost 3 weeks.
Looks like redline has got competition
Repco.
Penrite racing 5 5w30: $57 <---- PAO and Ester oil!!! REAL GROUP 4 & 5 synthetic.
only for 5w30? or does the special extend to other grades of oil too.
dont have one, and couldnt find one on the website :(

i am seeing some oil priced at really good prices for the last 8 years!
thanks for that. looks like i was looking at the wrong site.
Had a more detailed look at the Penrite racing oils, they are about the same (or slightly cheaper) than the redlines
http://www.penriteoil.com.au/engineo...d_products=276
So much zinc in that oils it'll rival redline for protection.
Redline does have a higher flashpoint due to its full Group 5 base compared to a group 4&5 mix in the Penrite.
Looks like the penrite is a highly competitive oil compared to the redline.
Just loaded up the brochure, looks like ill be doing a decent shop there (clay bar, wash, wax, etc)
As much as I want to, the oil companies rarely display the type of base stock they are using and it's usually a mix.
But as a general rule, unless specified on the bottle, the cheaper synthetics Shell Helix Ultra/Castrol Titanium etc are group 3, even then there's rare exceptions depend on oil weight, for example, 0w40 synthetic oils normally require a good portion of group 4 or 5 in the mix to reach that grade.
So it's really complex sadly. But whenever a brand actually displays their base stock as group 4 &5 (Redline/Amsoil/Mutol/Penrite), we jump on it if its a good price.
Damn, was hoping for some 10w30, which seems rare in Aus for some reason.
For older engines. At least that's what the manual suggest. 5w30 also works, but they recommend it for 25° down.
Is "Racing" oil alright for everyday run around cars (like our Euros)?
Is it too late for this?
too late for what?
if you are referring to using race oils. it is never too late.
For the deal! haha
or is it a permanent thing?
edit: oh it's around $142.. so i can still get it!
well the racing oil is based on similar basestocks so how bad can it be. (thats my take on it anyway)
Ok thanks guys!
FYI Amazon has fixed the shipping calculator error.. It is now $66 shipping for 12 quart... Bugger...
I cannot change my oil to a lower spec since the engine is now running super smooth...
Any idea where to get the same oil for the same money or similar grade oil?
Now that the Redline "deal" is no longer available, can anyone recommend another good fully synthetic oil for a smooth, quiet engine? I'm leading towards Royal Purple for my next service. I might look into Honda FEO as Chaos mentioned.
or even Penrite.
I'm still praying for the deal to come back again. I think it went away one time only to come back a few months later. Here's hoping.
