First glance at the s14 (first pic) I thought it was a dc2! He needs a headlight update to complete the look ;) The ferrari looks weird. I still dig the S15
wow!
i actually really like the ferrari...love the horse on the bonnet
my 2 cents: love the satin on your bonnet, great job (ballsy job, scared much when you started?)...leave the boot white
Hey why not do wing Black?
drooools
keeep the paint cans in a warm - hot bucket of water...
this will thin out the paint so no blogging occurs
teaser is very correct !!!
ALWAYS , WEN SPRAYING ANYTHIN
DO THAT !!!!
thanks for the advice though too late now :p
I would strongly advise this for the acryllic laquer then.. it's A LOT thicker than the enamel.
Ultimate goal would have been this but not game (Satin White)

sex..
spray can matt/satin paint jobs are always gonna have those streaks/linesthrough it.. to do it properly you need to put on a base coat of black then clear it, but use a matting agent in the clear, using a spray gun that is
but great can job though
did you buff it or paint and dry
if your going to do the rear, make sure u remove the wing 2.
imho, the wing looks ugly
hey mate never sprayed with cans but lines happen when you over lap when the spray gun is too close. try bringing the can further away. (yes it will not put as much paint down and youll have to do more coats but its more likly not to create lines. not to bad either. throw up some more pics
any updates?
Yeah any updates? Or chickend out?
bitched out hard
atm, mines being experimented on.
the petrol door has been used incase i dont like the turn out, basically the petrol door is in satin black and was prepped very well which a clean finish came out and i do like it although have 1 issue on my mind.
if i paint my car satin black, this f*kers gna be hard to sell later
no it wont!! ahaha i'd buy it bro =p
wat sort or paint r u using xposed?
lol @ pain
true indian
my pain in drying
pain is love
painter has experimented with 2 pac and acrylic
acrylic looks better as the 2 pac looks to matt, although a buff an polish may make it shiny day in and day our will make the matt look abit crap i think
gna go with acrylic satin black if i decide to do this, im waiting for a sunny day to look at how it looks in the sun as the petrol door looks good all wet and stuff har har!
everything looks good wet bahahaha
hmm so did u paint it matt back or satin black? or is there no diff?
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...fc20016xc7.jpg
im after this finish
thats satin black, ive looked at the 3 blacks i like at it comes too
satin black, matte black and SATIN BLACK PEARL < this is sex although gna cost me to much LOL
basically the difference between mat and satin is that mat is very dull, not shiny at all where satin is shiny but doesnt reflect!
heres satin black pearl
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/...o_251502_7.jpg
that s15 is satin black.
matte black will look like a chalkboard, itll look shit
you want satin black
would it be easy to clean/maintain satin black ?
asking the op, although if u wanna update on your progress :D
yeh harder to maintain and harder to prep. LOL!
i had a look at my fuel door today and it looked good, im gna get my rear bar done and see how it looks if i dont like it, its going to go stock color
Good stuff.. i should've experimented on that too!
however post#99 is correct, the fuel cap would've been consistent but when you do the bonnet, the streaks are almost inescapable unless you do it really far because it dries so quick, the texture on the bonnet changes as it dries, but because the fuel cap is small you would've painted the whole thing before it dried.
I ended up doing mine again, made it worse... the cheap enamel undercaot i did was a bastard of a thing, it turns into chalkboard/milky shit regardless. I sanded the whole thing back down and resprayed acrylic over it. tried to level it by sanding it back down then i hit the enamel undercoat on some parts.
over it now looks ****ed, should've left to what i had in the pics in the previous page :( just gonna get it done properly
yeh, although mine will be done via a spray gun not a can. If you were using a car, suggest that you go to a hip hop store which sell different type of can heads that graffiti artist use, buy the wide spread ones :D ive got a few which i use for home jobs on small stuff.
did the streaks look bad in the sun?
maybe add another coat and buff and polish it to get swirl marks instead of straight streaks LOL
fark black.
satin white ftw.
any more photos of satin white cars??
streaks were unnoticable in the sun, its when its out of the sun and you see angled light reflections that you see it.
since your using a gun, feel like letting us know who'll be mixing your paint and what head you use...
got a compressor at home, should've used it to begin with
I searched matte white and it came up with similiar results. I guess people confuse satin/matte alot.
I think the white would be a bit easier to spray as any highlights aren't going to be as noticeable. (ie white highlights on white paint vs white highlights on black paint)
less contrast in the highlights so the waves shouldn't be too noticeable.

theres some cool shots there.
yeah i know what you mean. when i get back to QLD i might give it a go on my boot lid. i need to fill in the wholes from the wing anyway so i might as well give it a shot.
matte white body with flat black rota's! :D:D
ah the head i was referring to was for spray cans! uno the white head on spray cans, you can buy different types, this might help!
i cant go with white, need black!
ill try get a camera too for what i do! and ye when it aint sunny and u see the reflection u can see a dody job to a good one with satin/matte black
im looking for a sprayer to do mine ......
Havent back out just yet, gonna get Promax in clayton to spray my car in 3 weeks time =) will post photos when done
how much u gettin it done for ?
curious, any1 done this yet in aus?
wondering if clear coating will be needed too, although i think it will make it glossy looking?
there are clear coats out there that don't have a gloss finish. Theres matte/satin clear coats that you could use as a top "protectant' sort of layer.
ooo ill have a look at some auto paint stores.
ah thanks zdster, my cars actually painted satin black now and DANG it looks awesome.. although few touchups within some areas needs to be fixed.
had a word to the painter and he asked if i wanted to clear it for protection, but worries its gna make it look like gloss black. if you know what i mean? he wasn't to sure if there is a clear which is like anti gloss kinda thing!
i've read that you can mix flattening agents into clear coat mixes to stop the gloss effect to (if he's mixin the paint himself he might be able to try this)
try it on a different panel first tho.
post pics too man!!!!!!!!!!
ah sweet! good idea, ill get him to try it on my petrol door! hahahah!
i see what you mean, and see how it can work.
What someone else is suggested is to just clear it, then buff and polish it after to take abit of the clear out!
yeh i'll post pics this weekend! the front bar is off atm as its getting redone as there was a scratch ( normal paint woulda covered it ) but the matte/satin look made it show!
all i gta say is DAMN, any1 who does this be prepared to prep the surface REALLY REALLY good!
zdster, ye man ive heard of this 180.
ive got dt on my choice list atm.
n a few hea n there.
hey guys, saw a prefacelift dc2 in matt black at livo on saturday. had not sideholdings as well. looked awesome, very agressive
sidemouldings sry ! lol
Just sprayed my car satin black with a compressor and gun, turned out pretty nice, it's drying atm. There's a a little bit of orange peel though.
Does anyone know if it will be ok to wet sand it with 1200 or 2000 then buff it out?
Should I use a compound polish or something?
So is it possible to remove the orange peel then?
It's a crx, I'll post picies tomorrow.
Pics tomorrow or it didn't happen
*holds Bat in hand*
well it did happen, hence trying to get a little help here.
So can i wetsand it to get rid of the drips/orange peel??
uc ant wetsand it, its going to scratch the paint which will require another coat.
think u might haev to sand it down n respray it
how did the car turn out mate?
