has anybody done anything to fix the major understeer we get?...coilovers?
well aparantlyy...according to my cousin, the civic fd1 has a pretty good handling...in comparison of him driving the fd2r...
i was stoked my self as well
no worries man :)
good luck!

New interior bits went in yesterday,
MUGEN leather gear boot/Handbrake cover

Whislt I reckon the FD1 has great handling compared to other cars in the price range and class, I'm still a bit paranoid after reading this remark regarding high speed lane change maneuvers from Wheels Magazine;
URL: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...wheels%2C+gripQuote:
Interestingly, and going against the more popular perception that smaller cars are more agile, the Honda managed an entry speed of just 105km/h into the lane-change exercise - just 3 and 4km/h better than Territory and RAV4 respectively - before its rear end started doing the pendulum thing. Every vehicle you could expect might beat it here, did, with the exception of the Corolla. This result was at odds with the Honda's solid performance in the slalom (sixth), demosntrating that swerve and recover ability is speed-dependent.

Ivan_Y ---> Holy crap, are they 20s?? How did you get them on if Civics can only be upgraded to have 17s? I heard anything more than 2 inches from stock causes:
a) a bumpy ride
b) high potential for bent rims
c) rotor/gear problems
d) bearings to become wrecked
even with coilovers one would still have the problem of at least c and d?
What do you mean civics can only be upgraded to 17's?
a) yes 20s would increase the comfort of the ride - but if you have 20's on you car you aren't going for comfort
b) not sure why 20's would increase the chance of bending your rims
c) not sure how 20's would increase your gears?
d) possible - but its a risk you take
my bad - you knew what i was talking about lol
on another note - does anyone have a picture of their sport with a CAI or SRI
Does anyone know if exhaust change voids engine warranty or is it a seperate part?
just a catback should not void engines warranty as its just an outlet and almost impossible to cause an engine to fail.
intakes on the other hand will void engine warranty.
Thats what i figured but thought id check cheers
I skip the exhaust and go straight to this: ;)
http://www.procivic.com/pages-produc...963/index.html
no, they are 19" but u can put 20" on fd1 for sure.
a) about bumpy ride, it not 100% depends on the rims, depends on ur spring as well
b) bent rims, depends on the offset of the rims
c) rotor/gear problem, have no idea with this one lol, but i dont think so
d) bearings, possible, but like "Phlirt" said, its a risk that i take :)
Ivan_Y ---> Holy crap, are they 20s?? How did you get them on if Civics can only be upgraded to have 17s? I heard anything more than 2 inches from stock causes:
a) a bumpy ride *YES, BUT CAN BE MINIMIZE BY CHANGE THE SPRING & SHOCK ABSORBER
b) high potential for bent rims * HMM, YES, IF YOU RUN A HOLE WHILE DRIVING 150 KMH
c) rotor/gear problems *ACTUALLY, BIGGER ROTOR NEED BIGGER RIMS TO CLEAR, BUT STOCK ROTOR WOULD BE FINE WITH BIGGER RIMS
d) bearings to become wrecked *EVERY MODS HAVE CONSEQUENCES
even with coilovers one would still have the problem of at least c and d?[/QUOTE]
Has anyone tried grounding the throttle body to the battery's neg terminal on their FD1? Few guys I know have done this on their Mazda3 and apparently it has improved their throttle response slightly. Any truth in this or just BS?
Guys quick question about civic FD fog lights..whats the different between oem from Ebay and original Honda? Honda's incorporate the switch on light switch "stick", does oem one's similar? or switch on your dashboard? which is eww.
you get a push button switch for ebay one's that you can mount on the dash.
any1 tried the sprintbooster yet?
whats a sprintbooster?
I just got back from KL this morning,
I brought back mugen window visor.
Then went down n installed it.
Sleep is for the weak:)

MUGEN front grille went on today..
will throw a picture up when i get the foglights on later this week
For those who don't know sprintbooster is a little module that gets installed near the pedals for dbw systems... it basically is an amplifier, making the dbw smoother and more responsive... they claim it makes the car more fun to drive... i was just wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
I'm gonna have a trial fit... but they are pretty pricy... and i'd only consider it if it makes a massive diff.
I remember reading about it on an sg civic forum, but personally I don't think it'll make much of a difference.
How much is it anyway mark? Are you buying it online or is there an aussie shop that has supply of them?
999 Automotive have it... or should have it by now. But they were quoting $550 i think from memory, which is a bit expensive. But they'll do a free trial fit so i can drive around and see if its worth it.
keep in mind these sprintboosters ur talking about dont actually add any HP at all.
it basically just makes ur power curve more linear and the same can be achieved under WOT.
this device just cuts out the lag from what DBW gives because DBW filters out abit of the response as u may go through bumps at highspeed
these things are pretty expensive given what it does... buddyclub is about to introduce it into aus, and the price is gonna be around $500!
Yeah, no added power of course... just changes the response of the dbw. I'm not expecting great things from it.
I'd definitly want to trial it before purchasing it - as I said, it has to make quite a difference before I'd consider buying it. I just saw i can buy it online off a SG car place for AUS$350.
installed cusco strut brace today, had to cut away bits of the plastic to make it fit, but worked out well in the end :)
next mod are sa90s :D
Fellas, list your exhaust/intake setups. People like me need to know what works and what kills performance before we spend money on it.
Thanks :)
rk 86 wa, would you be able to tell me where you got the rims for your car?
Also, can anyone identify what rims are on this car?

lol :p could be my rims :zip:
Hey guys, just coming in to mention my mod for this weekend.
The TopFuel PowerChamber SRI. Sounds great... just need to add some foam padding to stop some very minimal rattles at just above idle.

And my dream rims

Which I unfortunately can't afford at the moment... well I can.. but I can't justify it.
does anyone know if its possible to do a straight swap to bucket seats or there has to be some sort of modifications for it?
rails may need to be modified I belive, thats usually the case with swapping seats
lol i bought buckets, and then sold them cause the rails are a hoe, you need to make a 90degree bracket or get one made for you as our stock seat rails are not paralell if that makes sense. plus if you have an fd2, i dont think you can legally swap seats cause of air bags?
Same with the FD1 because of the side air bags.
On another note, does anyone know where i could grab a set of tien monoflex for the fd1?
One of the sponsors like JDMyard can get any Tein stuff.
i dunno about monoflex but ss is everywhere in singapore or thailand etc.
if you were located in perth id do a double ship with some parts cause i need to ship something from there lols
try s'pore civic fd club
talk to a guy called justin (ice bear) he sent me my coilovers and intake and other misc things, great guy!
good luck
What do you guys think about DC5S wheels on my FD2 ?
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/5...e011wv1.th.jpg
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/7...e010vl8.th.jpg
Your stock sport alloys looks alot better than any other wheel. :)
I have to agree. The stock Sport wheels look the best on FDs. They are 17" aren't they?
On that note what other rims are similar to the sport rims and look good?
They are AUDM DC5S TYPE-S 17" rims not the TYPE-R,they are actually look better in real life than in the pics, everyone driving in their Sport rims and it looks too common.I think I'll change to something different.....
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/8623/dc5swd6.th.jpg
^^^ WTH???? No selling stuff here mate!!!
Oopss... sorry, but I thought the DC5R have the same...
http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/private/4087582.jpg
I guess it depends on what you started with. I got a VTI (May 08), so I decided to get the sports rims. Its not really that common as I've seen alot more VTI, VTI-L versions rather than sports. I've been to the FD meet and only one had a sports and he doesn't even have the sports rims. Come to think of it, I've only had my car end of May and have seen more of the new Civic Type R than the Civic Sports.
wow! danjoy come to eastern suburbs mate!!! I show you 07++ Civic Sports... a lot of them!! mostly driven by ladies, old gramps and family guy. So no one bothered to come to the FD meet. er.. i drove 06 model, so I'm not one of them :p
I guess my location (Mt Druitt) the ratio is less as mostly Civics here are VTI like mine so having the sports rims are not that common.
We had close to 15 fder's in the last meet and another one is being planned EOM (31 Aug)
Yeah, that's right,so many around in the eastern suburb,I think I'll swap the wheels and get rid of the sports rims, way too common.I'll post some pics when I swap the rims.
My new rims should be coming soon....! =]
Hey does anyone know where I can buy one of those front bumpers which have the mesh grille for the Civic 2006+ model?
Also, anyone know how much an engineer's certificate costs? was thinking of putting 19s on the car and wanted to findout prices of them for insurance/legal purposes due to upsizing 4 inches.
thinking of getting the Mugen front grill for my second Civic, Silver. It has the complete Honda bodykit so wonder how it'll look? :D
Front bumper with mesh ? lower part ? impossible, need to custom by urself, but i'm thinking to do it in next few weeks, using Mazda6 LUX lower grille.
coz i don't like mesh sheet, too thin, i like plastic and thick ones, so it will match my type-r mesh grille.
eng cerf. to upsizing 4 inches ? looks no hope. even mine, up 3 inches, i still worries to get it in next 2 month :(
who cares FD's wont ever get pulled over anyway, your a family sedan with over sized wheels! not a drift pig S13 flooded with defects
well, it's not about pull over. for me, more concern about insurance issue. They said, they will cover as long you declared to them. okay, no problem.
but in other clause, written : they will not cover any illegal modifcation. and upsizes more than 2" in diamater and 1' at width (by RTA) is illegal.
so with NRMA, everytime u had accident, we need go to NRMA center, well, if they see this, see that. hmmm... evryone try to save money, so does NRMA, worry they will try to find some excuse not to cover ur car.:thumbdwn:
I spoke to RTA person, he said maximum upsize is 2" to rims diamater....Which is right ?
of course its right u heard it from the RTA
is that means we can upsize to 18" for 06 Sports, 19" for 07+ Sports, 17" for 06 Vti and VtiL, 18" for 07+ Vti and VtiL?
what ever the overall diameter is of the model you can go 2" inches up. I also confirmed this with an RTA inspector. My thinking before was 15" then you can only go up to 17", but its the actual diameter of OEM + 2 inch. So a VTi that came with stock 15" rims and 65 series rubber should be legal if you change to an 18 inch rim with 35 series rubber.
If you dont want insurance to f*ck you over dont modify your car. simple.
Coz those corporations can and will find any reason not to give you your insurance.
