i did own a base model DC5 before i had this TypeS, and after the usual suspension mods (strut bars, sway bars, shocks/springs or coilovers) my base can hold it's own against the TypeR when driving spiritedly. Many of my friends with TypeR can't believe it themselves. But on corner exits of course the TypeR leaves me behind for sure.
but anyway, comparing the base and typeS in terms of chassis strength, it's similar if anything you can't really notice the difference, unless you're at the limit say on a track. And ontop of that, I would really doubt you can tell the difference in chassis strength between a TypeS and a TypeR. One car may roll less but that probably isn't the chassis, but more the difference in springs/shocks.
well i owned a DC5 base as well, and stock to stock you cant even compare. i was mainly reffering to stock form, with the R you have a better package to start with ;)
So besides Brembos and Recaros why would those in Japan get the Type R over the Type S? Surely there are some enhancements in the Type R chassis.
This is getting a bit off topic:p
But anywayz the JDM DC5R face lift 05-06 is 100kg’s lighter & does the ¼ in 14.3sec’s
I’d say there’s a lot different:)
yeh it is getting a bit offtopic, anyway i reckon very nice results. oh and btw im getting a toda catback installed in my car in about 3 weeks and eventually im getting GruppeM and toda headers...should be interesting to see the comparison in ATW KW between the R and the S with the same mods
JDM Type S has nothing on Our Type S. We got a hybrid version as in some of both cars . AU S has better engine than AU R, apparently better strut brace but it does weigh 70k more cause of sound proofing, leather and creature comforts but i still managed to pull a 14.48 down WSID with just a GruppeM intake cant wait for a toda heads exhaust :)
