when i was hsopping for the dc2 omg i couldnt find one that hasnt been in some big ass hit lol.
Dents to easily, the compartments are too small you can't fit jack shit in them, stock wheels are to small.
-That its a non V-tec.
-Sounds fair gay (that will change though)
-Stock speakers are shit.
Other than that its awesome.
How much did the V-tec kit set u back? I'd love for mine to sound real nice, but I got a shitload of expenses atm so its going to be a while. In regards to the speakers, I have some 6x9's from my VN from way back when I was 16, might just chuck them in, they sounded nice.
bloody driveshafts are shit.
Hmmm.... the conversion is not a cheap exercise but is very easy and not a whole lot of parts required to do a B18C swap if u already have a B18B in there. U can pick up a JDM DC2R half cut (which is the best option as it should have all the parts necessary) for roughly $6,000-$8,000 and depends on who does the labour it will be a grand or so. Then theres the LS/VTEC swap which will be much easier n cheaper.
Theres plenty of forums on here discussing this so have a search n im sure u'll find some helpful info.
This is an awesome thread. Here's my 3:
Turning circle
Slow when not in VTEC (vti-r) but this makes the car more fun =]
Keeps making me spend money on it!
i mod it to what i want.
soon to be turbo + vtec.
what more could you want.
theres nothing i dont love about my integra
Today i drove a Nissan 370z, i officialy hate my car. lol
You like the fact that if you have a bottle in your cup holder you can't use your head unit? =]
I LOVE MY TEG. I drove a BMW 335i (twin turbo) it was AWESOME but for some reason I couldn't see myself driving it...
Go the tegs! lol
$$$$ for 2kw
girlfriend complains about recaros (lol)
stock wheels are too small
wouldnt mind a normal boot floor.
and I hate sydney roads/carparks :P
+1 on turning circle, for such a small car its a shocker
Avid solid torque mounts. lol Nah they are awesome. If you want a smooth comfortable ride - by a soarer or some other shit barge like that.
I think i have been officially converted to honda's for life. Having owned a volvo 240 lol, and 2 nissan skylines R31's (one na one turbo) But i would buy a volvo or another r31.
1. Needs sound deadening for comfort, but doesn't bother me as I'd rather it lighter
2. Turning circle quite large.
3. Dislike having to vtec at least once every drive, waste of fuel.
i dont see the turning circle problem really? ive driven every integra except a type s lol .. they've all been fine..
have u guys ever drove a GRAnd touring camry? honestly.. u woudlnt be able to do a u turn on the m4 in that lol
whats so bad about the turning circle? worse than an EG?
just add a little handbrake action :D
their pretty bad.. not as bad as the evo's but
33GTR is in fact twice as bad as the teg, 5-point turns where most cars should b able 2 do a u-turn haha ...but seriously, my falcon ute has a better turnin circle than the teg
EG turning circle? Isn't it good? I had an EG before my teg and it was heaven in comparison! Actually, interestingly, on paper, the EG has a smaller turning circle than a Jazz! However, in real life, our Jazz killed my EG.
hmm strange.. yes a dc5 has a pretty big one .. but its a big car.. as for the dc2s and da's i dno bout u guys but dont do lyk a full u turn do an oval .. i make it everytime everywhere.
how bigs your wheels?
i got 17"s on my car with lyk faily thick tyres?
Yeh it definitely has a worst turning circle than an EG. EG's are pretty awesome =]
Mine has a bad turning circle - cos i hate turning the wheels to full lock lol. Dont know why i do it just pedantic i guess. I know its not hurting anything but just dont like doing it!
Well apparently it puts excess strain on your power steering system? So good on you! lol
ill take the mediocre turning circle anyday when it results in quick steering rack
the shocking offsets on dc2r's
the height of a DC5 base
lack of power below 6000rpm
GSI has good accel at least, dont really know DC5's
even when im driving normal.. sounds like im hooning
doesn't rev to 12k like it should.
^^ lol..ur not trying hard enough??
lol at the hoon one. people who think that they are "hairdressers cars" even though they are absolutely brilliant cars in every way.
lol.. my car is completely stock and it sounds like im hooning... good car to cruise along but.. so quite
off the line theres not a whole lot of difference between B18B n B18C... its when u hit vtec thats where all the difference is. I didnt mind the FD in the GSI, good for highways but u could even cruise in 5th at 50km/h so long as it wasnt uphill.
ha too right geeang
turning circle - too massive
recaro seats - im asian and i still find them squishy
gear box - so weird driving with 6 gears having driven cars with 5 gears for 2 years
exhaust - it should either be quiet or be loud. the stock one can be quiet and then it can be annoyingly loud in the background when you're trying to cruise.
revs - car revs a bit high(well i think so), im the type of driver who likes to keep my revs under 3k's.
lol, get a tractorish falcon.
I hate the fact that i might be getting rid of mine soon...
Oh mannn... i wish i had a 6-speed. With a DC2R box ur revving at like 3.5k sittin on 110... i dont have a very loud exhaust, but even then i get a headache after 10 minutes at that speed in 5th. Even at 80 its revvin a tad high if u gotta sit on that speed for a while. 6-speed ftw.
98 DC2 Vti-r
Dislikes:
Mods cost a lot of money
Oil Filter is in a horrible spot (need tiny hands to get out)
Every commodore wants to race (most p plater)
Getting chased by commodore who got beaten
Not enough room for full size spare, reduced to crappy space saver
Likes:
Beats all N/A 4 cylinders, and most N/A 6 cylinders off lights
Not many in Townsville (I have seen 5 including mine, the other 4 are gsi)
Good on Fuel (Around town 450 on 98 350 on 95, Highway 600 on 98 400 on 95)
Feels good when you hit VTEC
Its small so i dont have to drive people around or be the dd
Don't know what you guys are compling about the size and getting in and out, im 6ft 4" and i don't have a problem
Try that with recaros and not damaging the bolsters!
dc5 engine mounts
Dislikes:
- Front wheel drive
- Aftermarket mods are expensive for little gains
- Worrying about passengers sitting on my recaros
Likes:
- Looks sexy from all angles
- VTEC!!
- fuel consumption is reasonable (450kms to 500kms per week)
- Recaros
Integras less common than a WRX?? You've clearly never been through cabramatta.. 62% of integras ever prodiced reside in the driveways in south western sydney.
You're talking bout integras as a whole, I'm simply talking about dc5rs.
But mate, I have been through cabra. Got mates from uni that live in that area.
Dc5rs are a different story. I guess I should say honda in general haha
Lol I know what u mean when u say Honda in general.
i want vtec :( but i still F***ing love my honda!!
it still beats most :)
Once u get a B-series, you'll never know how u lived without it. Ive driven both GSI and VTi-R Integra I. Own a VTi-R Civic, and its 1600 motor is much better than a DC4 engine. A VTi-R Integra however, is even better, the extra torque and power of the VTi-R B18C is nice, the 0-100 sprint definitely feels faster than the B16a civic (-1 full second stock-stock).
Unless your gonna put a turbocharger on your DC4, dont spend a cent on it and save up for a B-series car. It might take a year or 2 (depending on your job) , but u'll thank me for it.
BTW, I love DC2s to death, but even though I'm slower in my EM1 Coupe, IMO its a more Stylish car. That said, each to his own.
Peace,
Mike
i just love the style of a DC2 but didnt have the funds for a VTi-R... somewhere along the track i will be upgrading, probs with a turbo at this point because im so attached! haha :P . . WOO DC2
That damn beeping noise that doesn't stop for about 30 seconds or until you put your seat belt in when you turn the engine on. Like c'mon, what douche puts their seatbelt on before their engine.
Even though I haven't driven a DC5r, I think the deletion of the double wishbone suspension that was in the EK/EM/EJ/DC2r etc... was a bit disappointing. Penny pinching was responsible IMO.
That's a kinda harsh call Burak213.
There are many factors to take into account, sure the DC5r has a 2L, more powerful engine, but I think that other people will agree with me that double wishbones are more sophisticated (+more exxy) that the suspension setup which is on the DC5r.
I'm talking suspension, not power and acceleration (I know a DC5r will be faster on the track through more power and esp Torque), but I'm talking about handling.
I can supply you with a lot of info from reputable sources which state that the DC2r is the best handling FWD car ever. Even though it's 10+ years old, it hasn't been bested.
Maybe someone else (apart from _BORDO_) can back me up.
I didn't say anything about the power or acceleration about dc5 and dc2
what i meant to say is that you can't nitpick little issues about the dc5 when you dont drive one nor take one to the track to test it out for yourself.
You seem like the typical honda hating person who loves to jump on the bandwagon cause Jeremy Clarkson said the new civic is crap cause of the cheaper suspension option
supply me with all the info you have that dc2r is the best handling car ever. Cause i would agree with you, it is a very hardcore car and the dc5 wouldnt be able to take it off its pedestal.
but that doesnt mean the dc5 isnt a well balanced car.
I seem a bit jaded my friend, I though on OH, flaming is not tolerated, even though you are pretty subtle about it. I don't see more than 1 rep bar on your profile (same as I), so Like I already said, I would like to see some veterants post their opinions.
U said that, Im a not a Hondahating person (WTF would I be a member fo OZH if i were?)... I own an EM1 for fu+ks sake, and I plan to get a DC2r/or DC5r if i can afford it. U are really talking shit here.
Furthermore, I don't give a f+ck what Clarkson says, Ive never seen him review the DC25r anyway, so I have no idea what that comment means.
All I can say is you have no idea where I'm coming from. I love the DC5 for Fu+ks sake, I just wish it came with Double wishbone suspension!
I do rememebr however, that Clarkson savaged the new CIVIC Type-r (not 'Teg), 'cause it has torsion beam at the back compared to the fully independent setup on the previous Type R Civic (EP3).
Get your facts straight, I'll post some references on the superiority of DC2r setup later,if i can be bothered.
